Re: Candidate Match

I didn't think this covered enough ground to really get a good answer. It doesn't ask about trade policy or education and seems to just focus on a few things. I don't even want to share who it said I am most aligned with because it doesn't really fit my positions at all when looking at the big picture and didn't even come close to the results I have gotten from much broader selectors.

I remember...

In this instance i can't see any possible logic in someone from Europe ranking our candidates on issues close to them by the standards to American voters.

Gay marriage is already legal in Holland, immigration is a totally different issue in regards to the EU's one border policy, taxes are sky high and they already have a national sales tax in most of Europe...comparing like for like is beyond absurd imo.

Nobody even bothered to ask why i apposed people who don't have these specific Context of issues (i.e. in the situation and scenario we face them) take this test, just a load of assumptions of one motive or another that i apprently have.

Re: Candidate Match

I think some of the questions were a bit lacking for libertarians. For instance, in terms of gay marriage, I don't want gays to get recognition by the federal government, but because I don't want ANYONE to get special recognition for marriage, gay or straight. It should be treated as a normal contract between two people, same as a contract for buying a car or anything else, and should not get any special perks from the government. I think some gays go about it in the wrong way. Don't "correct" the wrong with another wrong, right the wrong across the board.

Someone should tell them that bad press can be prevented by not abusing prisoners in the first place. Censorship is only needed to preserve the good reputation of those who have tortured and/or murdered already.

Re: Candidate Match

1. Bill Richardson (D)
2. Mitt Romney (R)
3. Mike Huckabee (R)

Out of all of them, Richardson probably is the candidate I like the most. I don't really like Romney that much; I don't know what he's doing on my list. I disagree with Huckabee on a lot of things, but I do like him... for some strange reason. Pretty good quiz.

I think it is likely that Romney will be on most everyone's list as his views have been pretty pliable and amorphous.

Or to put it more simply he has taken every different stance on every issue.

Re: Candidate Match

I got:

1. Fred Thompson
2. Tom Tancredo
3. Duncan Hunter

When I switched to matrix view, Biden, Kucinich, and Obama missed on ever question.

I liked the supporting documentation on each issue from every candidate. Move the courser over the bars or boxes to see the quotes.

Maybe because he enjoys it. You remind me of the kid that likes to make sure only cool kids get in your club. He isn't allowed to vote or donate to campaigns so that should settle it but that just doesn't seem to be good enough for you. Maybe there are some sites that only allow American members but not this one. I personally enjoy having a open site that allows us to get insights from various places. And really this is a silly quiz that isn't very accurate and I was thinking of it as being fun.

I picked in order;

1 - Ron Paul
2 - Mike Gravel
3 - Dennis Kucinich

Put all three of those guys in the White House, one of them as Secretary of State, and the world will get much better much faster.

Yeah. You know what, I agree. Maybe knowing more than is actually stated in the Candidate Matcher made me feel like it was better than it was. Now that you mention it however, the Iraq questions were difficult to answer because they weren't detailed enough. I was reading into it what wasn't there.

I agree that the poll was not nearly broad enough. On the criteria they selected, I got:

1. Mitt Romney
2. Ron Paul
3. Dennis Kucinich.

If they had inluded questions about trade policy and gun control, for example, I doubt that given their records, Kucinich and Romney would have even come close to the top ten...

Re: Candidate Match

Interesting.

This is a cool poll/quiz, but I came up with Hillary.

I would postulate that Hillary's stances on issues are based on pleasing all the people all of the time.

The trick is to gleen for yourself, who is genuine in their promises and intentions.

All this quiz shows you is whos campaign promises you align with. You have to take that into consideration, but then also decide who you trust and make a measure of their integrity based on their record and on your gut.
