Nixon on Thomspon: "dumb as hell"

ABC News: Nixon: Thompson 'Dumb' But 'Friendly'

I just heard a clip of Richard Nixon in a recording talking about Fred Thomspon. It made me laugh and I just had to post it.

The article doesn't quote the whole think but he said:

"Oh s**t, that kid? He's dumb as hell"

LOL

I'm sure Thomspon is fully capable of being POTUS (not that he'd be good, just capable) and I don't think anyone should put stock into anything that Nixon said but I still think its funny.

Well since it was him who asked the now infamous question "what did the President know, and when did he know it" - that was the beginning of the end of Nixon's Presidency - I think it might just be possible that Nixon would be a wee bit biased against him.

I'm not a Thompson fan but I sure as hell could care less about Nixon's opinions on people.

It's amusing for sure. But you are right--he isn't worth putting stock into it. After all, if Nixon was so smart, he wouldn't have gotten caught, especially by taping his own plots.

Ordered to make a suicidal charge, it became one of the most famous events of the Civil War. The re-enactment portrayed in the movie Gods and Generals:

Re: Nixon on Thomspon: "dumb as hell"

I think you hit the nail on the head there O'sullivan, wasn't so much what Nixon did but the fact that he "defined" the word dumb in the way he got hurt (especially the way it happened).

One stupid mistake that Thompson has made is to become a Senator, if he had intended to run for President then he should have never become a stupid. He IS dumb!
