Re: Nine White MEN
That debate yesterday was a snoozefest. These guys talk and talk and talk but say nothing. Romney and Giuliani got into it about who cut taxes the most when they were in office in NY and Mass; but that only got me thinking: in a time of war, why was the nation cutting taxes instead of making sacrifices?
Their exchanges about the war on terror and the economy reveal that none of these guys, save for Ron Paul, really have an understanding on these issues other than talking points. Paul is the only candidate who seems to be thinking for himself. Fred Thompson is really boring. He brings absolutely nothing new to this dialogue. He was asked about the weak U.S. dollar and basically said, "well, it's important we have a strong dollar because if it's not strong than that hurts us internationally, so it needs to be strong, if it's not strong it's weak". Blah blah blah. Based on the overall feeling of the Republican debates so far, you'd think America was doing just fine, no worries, keep the war going indefinitely, don't ask questions about it, the economy is great, be optimistic! be optimistic! everything's just dandy! Hooray for America! Makes me gag. Republicans are so sentimental. They play like they're the tough guys, and it was revealed in an exchange that began with Romney about the biggest challenge facing America. What do you think he said? Terrorism? Global Warming? Deficit spending? Social Security? Nope. He said, "A sense of optimism". Can you believe that? The nation has been completely tainted by the Bush presidency, and all these guys want to do is blow sunshine up your asses. It's appalling. Ron Paul and John McCain were the only two guys up there yesterday who made any sense at all about anything. The rest of 'em? Throw them out. |

Re: Nine White MEN
No Paul is not a covert Democratic. He stands for traditional Republican values on foreign and domestic policy. Getting rid of Homeland Security is wise, getting out of Iraq is wise too. He has very true opinions about small government that stays out of your life and your bedroom.
Ron Paul is maybe not so optimistic, but I'm tired of that being the litmus test for being president. I don't want more sunshine being blown up my ass; I want results and Ron Paul knows where he stands. And look at those debates on YouTube; when Paul talks about letting airlines have armed guys on the plane or mentions other ideas, all based on the Constitution, he's giving a lesson to the others, and most of them look at Paul like their actually learning something. |

Re: Nine White MEN
The point is to discredit the current state of American politics to a level whereby everybody is certain that there must be a better alternative.
Guys like Ron Paul and Kucinich make that difficult, but I try my best.

One Dumb THREAD.
But at least it doesn't have the word "Zionist" in it 43,000 times, so I guess one must look at the bright side of the OP's racism and sexism. Matt |

Re: Nine White MEN
Take Ron Paul out of that picture, and all those guys sound exactly the same. All warmongers who think that all America needs is more OPTIMISM! Look at me, I'm happy! I'm the most optimistic! Don't talk to me about national sacrifice during wartime, I wanna keep cutting taxes 'cause it makes me feel happy! We'll let China pay for the war, we don't have time to think 'cause we're so freakin' happy!
These guys are pathetic and way out of touch. Both parties sound like they're running to represent two different countries. All Bush's doing. The culture has become so divided it may never go back. Great legacy. |

Re: Nine White MEN
Then you do not know much about Ron Paul other than foreign policy positions.
