Re: Thoughts on Obama

I respect Obama as a politician. He is either a genuine, good and intelligent man, or very good at faking it. I don't know that I trust his abilities as a diplomat. This country needs a negotiator and not a general. Take one look into the icy stare of Vladimir Putin and tell me that he wouldn't eat Obama alive.

Golly… hes for animal rights too!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *swoon*……

Obama Pledges Support for Animal Rights
Jan 14 2008

HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) - Democrat Barack Obama says he won't just be a president for the American people, but the animals too.

"What about animal rights?" a woman shouted out during the candidate's town hall meeting outside Las Vegas Wednesday after he discussed issues that relate more to humans, like war, health care and the economy.

Obama responded that he cares about animal rights very much, "not only because I have a 9-year-old and 6-year-old who want a dog." He said he sponsored a bill to prevent horse slaughter in the Illinois state Senate and has been repeatedly endorsed by the Humane Society.

"I think how we treat our animals reflects how we treat each other," he said. "And it's very important that we have a president who is mindful of the cruelty that is perpetrated on animals."
___

I laughed out loud reading this…If the woman had shouted; “hey what about microorganisms”? I wonder if she would have gotten a different answer…..he needs to be mindful of perpetrating cruelty upon those with any intellect left.....what crap...

I agree regarding Obama's character. I just do not have enough confidence in his leadership experience to support him as President.

I actually believe the next president needs to be both a negotiator and a general. I would like someone who can effectively promote Theodore Roosevelt's 'Walk Softly but Carry a Big Stick" policy. With all of the support building for pulling US forces out of areas of the world such as Iraq, we need someone who can be vigilent against people like Putin rushing to take advantage of the political vacuum left behind.

Re: Thoughts on Obama

Another big endorsment for Obama which may help him greatly gather more superdelegates around him.

Today, Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT) endorsed Senator Barack Obama for President, citing his unique ability to restore America's standing in the world, end the war in Iraq, provide health care for all Americans, and rally this nation around a common purpose.

Chairman Leahy said, "Barack Obama is the best candidate to reintroduce America to the world – and restore hope in our country. Barack Obama represents the America we once were and want to be again. When Barack Obama is President we will lead with hope, opening the doors of opportunity to all, realizing the potential of our great nation for its citizens and as a leader of the free world. Barack Obama will be a President who once again believes, 'Yes, we can.' That is why I am endorsing Barack Obama to be the next President of the United States."

Re: Thoughts on Obama

Why do all these senators endorsing Barack if he hasn't been vetted, if he doesn't have experience and has a very messy office?

The answer is very simple - they loathe Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Re: Thoughts on Obama

Which is the way it goes these days. Too many people don't know jack about who they vote for. But they are against the OTHER one so that's good enough for them.

As opposed to who??? It just means that he is the best of the three leading Democrats running, not the ideal candidate.

Re: Thoughts on Obama

Clinton camp has once again managed to play a dirty game in Nevada but failed to win the delegate war: Obama walked away without the "popular" vote but took 13 and she got 12 delagate points.

Winning 11 out of 17 counties is huge compared to Hillary's 6, besides.

Re: Thoughts on Obama

The final delegate count:

The caucus they showed in Las Vegas on CNN Obama got 17 delegates and Hillary got 16 delegates in NV.

Clinton won Las Vegas, but lost all the rest of Nevada.

Re: Thoughts on Obama

After three primary State races, Senator Obama has NEVER lost any National Delegates competition. He won in Iowa and Nevada. He tied in New Hampshire. That does not seem like a loss.
