Does Iowa represent a real trend?

There the number of Democratic voters more than doubled the number or Republican voters.
Almost unquestionably, this demonstrates that Iowa has flipped to be a Blue State.

Question: Which Red or Blue States from 2004 are likely to flip in 2008? What will the 2008 Red/Blue Map look like compared to this one from 2004?

Not sure. Virginia is now dominated by the Democrats, but that's not too unusual and has never stopped us from voting Republican in Presidential elections.

Iowa has really always been more Democratic leaning. 2004 was the first time the Republicans won it since 1984. I don't know that the primary there represents any trend, but I do think the Democrats will likely win the state in November.

My predictions are here based on an Obama vs Huckabee contest, but obviously this will be updated many times before November.

Good point. Perhaps the turnout in New Hampshire will be a better indicator since there are so many independents there.

I am almost certain Obama will the South Carolina primary. I don't know who will win on the GOP side. As far as the general election goes this state is pretty much a solid R.

THIS IS REAL HOPE AND CHANGE!

I'm fairly confident that Ohio will flip this year. We've almost purged ourselves of Republicans in the executive branch, and more and more seem to be falling in the state congress and our national representation. I personally hope that my own congressman, Stephen Latourette, goes down in flames.

This general march towards Democrats (both moderates, like the governor, and established liberals, like Senator Sherrod Brown) tells me that Ohio won't be voting for a Republican, no matter who the candidates are.

Aside from Ohio, I wouldn't be confident in making any predictions.
