Why Bill is Brilliant

Okay, so Bill Clinton's kicked up a shitstorm over the last couple weeks about the role he's played in Hillary's campaign. In the debate between Obama and Clinton tonight, that issue came up. Hillary answered the question beautifully. And that opened my eyes.

It's been my opinion over the last couple weeks that Bill Clinton's big mistake was that he should have been Hillary's "Bill Clinton" instead of Hillary's "Karl Rove". Bill came out after Iowa as the bad cop to Hill's good cop.

That seemed to be a miscalculation, but in fact that was precisely the calculation they made. I imagine that after Iowa happened, Bill insisted that Obama be exposed for his greatest vulnerability: he's a newbie who inspires people's feelings but who is vague on policy. Bill decided to act like the bad cop, attacking Obama directly, and he knew he could do it since his post-presidential popularity is near 70%.

And then once the media began to ponder if Bill was inserting himself too directly in Hillary's campaign, Bill curiously disappeared.

Bill knew precisely how far and how much he could push things; he stepped up to the line, wiggled his foot over it briefly, and then pulled back.

It could turn out to be the key reason that Hillary wins what will end up being a very close race. Just when Obama was about to lift off, Bill brought things down to earth and now in the debate tonight, you could tell that people are really studying these candidates closely now.

Bill Clinton has had a directly indirect part to play here, and he's the "Best Supporting Actor" in this whole campaign so far.

I don't really care to go on about who I like better or whatever, but as an actor myself, I can appreciate how roleplay works and how his role here has really shifted the focus from dreams and sentimentality to who has the actual grit to be president day in and day out.

I fucking love this whole campaign process so far. We don't even know for sure who might take things and that's refreshing for a change.

elequently put, although hind-sight is definitely 20/20. I really wonder if they planned for shit to go down like this.

Re: Why Bill is Brilliant

The impression I've gotten is that the Democratic party, as a whole, is pretty fuckin' fed up with Bill right now, and I just don't see how that can be beneficial to Hillary...

Re: Why Bill is Brilliant

I think it is pretty apparent now that Jason wildly overthought and overestimated Bill's Brilliance.

Hillary and the rest of the democratic party are learning what I have known for a long time, the only democrat Bill Clinton has ever been any good for electorally is Bill Clinton.

Re: Why Bill is Brilliant

If Bill is so brilliant, how do you explain Obama's complete and utter dominance over Hilldebeast ever since Bill spoke up?

It's very simple. The Clinton's have outworn their welcome and its not a minute to soon.
