As explained by Obama, Rev Wright is "family." Y'all. You don't throw one of your own under the bus - that's the pundit's job. You stand by your friend/family. Even if you, deep down, don't want to.

I can no more fault Obama on this than George HW Bush for not criticizing his son's poor performance; or Hillary for not calling for Bill to resign after the scandal; or McCain for encouraging the worst president in USA history.

As far as I know, this is a non-issue.

Only in your mind.

Obama isn't related to Rev. Wright.

No comparison.

It only shows his hypocracy and his use of a double-standard where his friends are concerned.

from an outsider's perspective and seeing him ( I assume you mean Obama) on our news far more than I want to, he appears to have EXACTLY the same quasi religious devotion to the USA as the most nationalistic posters here.

apart fromt he fact that I suugsted that "Africa" was a symbol of heritage/identity (A point you seem incapable of grasping) where do you get the rest of this re Africa? I would say that tribal factors are far more significant than skin - which is often irrelevant.

hmmmm - I think its possible that many black people have a romantic view of their heritage - as do many other groups (eg Irish Americans). And I also agree that African American families hve had ahigher rate of illegitimacy than the average population ... have you ever looked at historical statistics on illegitimacy? Its actually quite interesting. Illegitimacy and female headed families (for other reasons are well as ex nuptial liaisons) are HIGHER even in the same racial groups during times of economic uncertainty, and conflict.

This doesn't appear to be at all related to race.

As the search function is accessible this week, perhaps you might like to do a search through some of the threads on the forum where i have been discussing race. I can probably refer you to some sources as well, although most I have used are hard copy - and I haven't looked for them on line.

hmmm. Anyone can look at the history of coloured people int he US (and in many other nations) and not be surprised if people of colour can see plenty to be ashamed of. Although it doesn't seem that shame is the only emotion he has WRT the US.

thats a bit of a leap. Where do you see this?

causes of poverty are pretty well known universally. Anyone who is educated and aware can point out the conditions that contribute to the creation of poverty, and the continuance of that cycle.

and whats more - invoking people to be PROUD of who they are is one of the best ways to encourage them to lift themselves out of that cycle.
I have looked into the history of illegitimacy in this country. In the 60's illegitimacy was around 27% among blacks. Today it is around 70%. 50% of all black women have sexually transmitted diseases as compared to 25% among whites. Along with the constant reminders of slavery in black churchs illegitimacy is one of the reasons blacks, in Obama's own words, are at a stalemate, whatever that means. Maybe that's his way of saying rich whites are holding down his black brothers. Koreans, Japanese, Vietnamese, and every other race the has immigrated to this country has become active and successful members of American society. Even Hispanics are ahead of blacks in only a fraction of a time period. Why? Because they don't expect something for nothing. They don't feel somebody owes them anything. They aren't making excuses (Slavery) for their failure, only blacks seem to be making excuses.

Blacks see plenty to be ashamed because every Sunday they are reminded of it. It's strange that slavery would come up so often when none of them were alive when slavery was legal in this country. They have no more right to be indignant about their forefather's enslavement as Jews have. 4000 yrs ago or 200 it really makes little difference. You don't see Jews trying to hold their enslavement over the heads of Egyptians. All this has led to is resentment and a feeling of entitlement which they don't deserve.

I would like to ask Obama if he has ever worked a cotton field from sun-up to sun-down from the time he was old enough to walk. Was he forced to work the fields with his mother even when he was too sick to stand. Did he sleep on a mattress filled with grass in an old one room tin-roofed shack with so many holes in the walls the wind blows straight through. Did he ever have a time that the only meat he knew was "Meet you around the corner" or whatever he was able to catch in the woods. Has he ever been told to go to the back of a bus. Has he ever had to find somewhere else because the bathroom was 'Whites Only' or been refused service because they don't serve blacks. Has he ever been refused a job or acceptance into schools because of his skin color.

From what I've read about his life he has been more privileged then I. I had to serve my country to get the money I needed to go to school. He attended some of the best prep-schools and universities in the country. The only way that was possible was because he had the support of a mother who wanted the best for him. I don't see what he has to complain about.

Re: Obama's Incredible Denial Concerning His Pastor

Watch Bill O' Rielly on Fox News tonight and you'll see what blacks feel about us.

Now Jessie Jackson and his friends are harrassing Fox News reporters.

This is going to get ugly.

Re: Obama's Incredible Denial Concerning His Pastor

What I've seen in the last week has shown me why blacks hate us, now the truth is out for all to see, and they're begining to say, That's right. We hate your white ass.......WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT WHITEY!!!!!

It is just so sad.

And they can't blame anyone but themselves.

Obama said as much in his speech. This is just the way it is, he says. Why the big surprise?

Jesse Jackson...yow.

My favorite Jesse quote:

Quote:
I do not deny the allegation, I deny the allegator.
That's how you solve Obama's preacher problem, pour some Jesse over it and put an Al on top.
Obamas gotta be thinking , go the hell away, I have enough problems.

I don't have to have anyone in my family who was a slave.

I'm not the one doing the complaining about the huge disparity in America.

Um, Chas was just trying to be funny.

He just got his hood back from the cleaners and he's been showing it off lately so everyone can see how shiny it is.

Do you like the way I had the wife stitch around the eye holes with gold thread? Pretty spiffy, huh?

very sharp. But a real man is not afraid of a little creative stitchery.
