In my mind, a speech like this is just empty air. It may sound good when you hear it from a person who is good at giving speeches, but it has no substance. Thus, it is a bad speech.

I am surprised that someone who reads this speech, and is therefore not affected by the ways and means of retoric, thinks it is a good speech.

Where is the message?
Sorry sir, if you can't comprehend the message. But that sir, doesn't mean it wasn't there. Your lack is not Sen. Obama's.

Considering the state of our Nation has fallen to, under one George W Bush, (a man that can barely utter a single sentence without making a gaff) it pretty much kicks the legs out from under the nonsense that the ability to speak isn't an essential quality of a great leader.

Should you be actually interested in Sen Obama's ideas and proposals, which I doubt, here's a link outlining the specifics. It took me about 5 seconds to google:

Barack Obama | Change We Can Believe In | Home

Happy learning, please get back to me when you have more to offer than "hot air."

I am quite capable of finding Obama's ideas, thank you. The issue here is the speech quoted in the first post of the thread. I cannot find Obama's ideas in that speech. It is Obama who offers "hot air" - in this specific speech. Therefore, I think it is a bad speech, regardless of the ideas Obama has.

You claim that the ideas are there, but do not go on to explain what ideas and where they are. Point to the ideas in the speech instead of giving me a completely different source to read, and I may take you seriously.
