Dems, what if?

I was watching the news this AM and there was more talk about the posssibility of the superdelegates going against the popular vote to nominate the candidate that they feel is most "electable". How would you feel about the party if this comes to be?
As a side note, there was also discussion on the possibility of the party losing Michigan and Florida votes due to discontentment based on their primaries not being counted. Any thoughts on that as well?

Re: Dems, what if?

Worse case scenario: Michigan and Florida delegates do not get seated and the Superdelegates pick Clinton as the nominee.

That gives me mixed feelings. I would like to see Clinton beat Obama but not in this way.

I find it ironic how in their effort to pick the more electable candidate that they end up picking the one that is most likely to lose. I mean seriously, do these people live in their own little worlds?

Pretty much. I do find the statements of his preacher a little disturbing but sadly they will be equated as Obama's statements themselves and people have real worries about him seeming foreign or Muslim (which I find appalling but it is there). Many people live in areas that do have a different culture and think that people are not that close minded but in much of the country many still are. Running a dinner in Kentucky allows me to hear many things that the media just doesn't realize are popular thoughts and many people are very paranoid about him. Believe if or not there is still many that do not like the idea of a woman either including women themselves. I think that these two where able to do much better in the primaries then they would in the general election but I think Obama would have a even harder time.

Interesting. I live in a big city, and my perception has been completely different. That is, that Obama would almost surely win in the general election. That was before this pastor business, which gives me and others pause.

Part of me is rooting for a convention mess because the elitist and inequitable system needs a shakeup. We shall see.

Re: Dems, what if?

I'm going to hang my neck out and propose that the superdelegates may feel Hillary is a better pick based on race ( ) experience, and then there's the pesky preacher-black panther media sabotage thing.

Re: Dems, what if?

There is absolutely no way either of them can gain the democratic nomination without superdelegates if Florida & Michigan remained uncounted as they should be and probably will be (Only Hillary is saying otherwise at the moment. Florida & Michigan have already made their decision on the matter). It just depends now how much it'll depend now on the superdelegates.

Re: Dems, what if?

I don't think Florida and Michigan can dictate to the DNC, can they?

Re: Dems, what if?

I haven't had this much hope for another Republican in the White House in 2009 since I can't remember.

Re: Dems, what if?

I think that it's funny that the Dems are always trying to choose who's "electable". In doing so they brought us candidates who are constantly serving up candidates who speak a lot but say nothing while at the same time trying to maintain the establishment. First Gore, then Kerry, now Clinton is suddenly sooo appealing. She claims she can withstand the Republican "heat" but was nearly in tears whining about how hard it is to campaign. Several people I know(myself included) say that if Hillary ever got the nod they would either stay home or vote McCain.

Then let's do hope Hillary gets the nod...I like to see more voters (from any party...just they need to get out and vote).

Why? I don't think the problem in this country is "not enough voters" its too m any uninformed voters who don't hold their elected official's feet to the fire.

I agree with you that voters should get themselves informed more, but I'm one of those evil Republicans who likes to see folks get out and vote in an honest manner.

Damn right and there's no excuse for it either. Most Americans have some sort of access to the internet so why the hell are they so many uninformed voters?
