I question your 80% Christian statement, perhaps a link, and your desire to mix religion with education. If you feel that strongly about prayer in education I suggest you send your children to Christian schools. What's the number of military compared to the general work force, under .01%? Why should high schoolers determining career paths be forced to listen to an insignificant sector of the work force attempting to recruit on school time?

I agree with what happened. I should note, though, that I would also be supportive of not having an anti-war event by moveon.org. It's just inappropriate and one sided.

A USO tour would be better.

These are the people that cry over their flag-draped coffins and celebrate 4000 US dead in Iraq.

Yes, celebrate their deaths

Only the lowest of the low feels a rush when they see the news that 4000 are dead.

The only way they would let them have their get together is if they were protesting the war during it and carrying "Bush is a murderer" signs.

Thats an 8 year old survey.
This is from Feb.08.
The U.S. religious marketplace is extremely volatile, with nearly half of American adults leaving the faith tradition of their upbringing to either switch allegiances or abandon religious affiliation altogether, a new survey found February 25, 2008.[8]

Try again, I guess you missed the so called libs head and hit yourself

If they were completely non-partisian as they say then a group like that would most likely qualify as a non-porfit and could be tax exempt, however because of their political attachment they don't
1. No group is completelynon partisan. You cannot state that the Veterans Against the Iraqi War is a non partisan group given your premise. I give them the same respect that I do for Veterans For Freedom.

2. No where in the article did it state that the Veterans were going to "brainwash," "cause a political event" or anything else. In fact the article stated the event was to be an academic setting around military service. Is that too political now? Do we need to hold each other's hand before McGruff visits the school? There has to be some common sense which has gone completely out the window here.

3. The article also stated, "When asked whether the part about "rallying the country to complete the missions in Iraq and Afghanistan' could indeed be construed as political, Hegseth said that the group agreed not to advocate about the "progress made in Iraq and Afghanistan." Now, since the group was not going to convey a major theme from their organization along with about what they did and saw in Iraq and Afghanistan. Or you now going to state that if any veteran speaks about what they saw without personalizing nor purposely construing a political statement like "Stop the War" Or "Continue the Mission and Support the Troops?"

However some parents sused their political prowess to stop an academic event by stanging protests and possibly, even though the article did not suggest it, withdrawing the students from school. This caused a delimna for the principal. He wanted an academic event, but had to contend iwth the parents. He thus made a decision he had no choice in. That is why I said parents are mostly at fault. They did not read all the facts, they only believed in their own political agenda, and wanted their way or now way without any compromises. The other group at the center of the debate has compromised within all reaonsble association. It is not whether you agree with the war or not, it is whether you agree someone should be given a right to free speech given the agreed upon confines of the situaiton.

More ad hominum garbage. I live 15 miles from Forest Lake, to the best of my knowledge there isn't even a limousine service that is based there. Forest Lake is not unlike most of the other communities surrounding Minneapolis, populated by a range of working class families from lower middle to upper middle income. Your assertion is utterly ridiculous.
It was a figure of speech. "Limousine Liberal" is a figure of speech. I could have easily used the word "yuppie" or "Soccer parents" to describe them as well.

Considering urban and suburban public school systems are mostly a failure to begin with, I would rather have the public school system be similar to Japan or South Korea than anything else. But that is a different topic altogether.

You're suggesting punishment by repeating classes for those who don't want to attend? How very generous of you. Why not a free period for all who don't want to attend what's basically a military recruitment exercise? That's what schools are all about isn't it, repeating classes, free periods or military recruitment?
So, you are now stating classrooms is punishment?

Again, where in the article did it state specifically it was a military recruitment.? If it were me, the assignment would be anything associated with civics. I would not care if it was against the military, for the military, against the government, for the government, etc. The paper would be short, only two pages maximum, typed, double spaced, and free of grammatical errors. They would start on it during class period and have homework while turning it in the next day. Simple.

I'm sure they both have a partisian angle, And I really don't have a problem with either of them. I do not feel that a school is the proper setting for either group. As I stated in an earlier post If they wanted to talk to school kids they could have made arrangments to do it after school thnm the kids and their parents would have had the choice to either attend or not. That would have avoided all the mess.

Again they can talk about whatever they want, They just need to respect the kids and the parents right not to attend. Even if they did do it during school time, they should have sent notifacation to the parents 1 or 2 days ahead of time. If they had done that it would have also avoided this hassle

The point isn't wheather it's about recruitment or not, or if it's just to sit around and talk. Why should the kids that don't want to be apart of it be assigned extra work, why couldn't they just be dismissed from class for whatever time it was to do what they wanted to do?

So you are claiming that in 6 years the number of American Christians have dropped by half? Funny, in 200 years of history of this country, the number of Christian has only dropped from mid 90% to 78.5%....but you are claiming in the last 6 years Americans have left the Christian faith by over 100 million+ people.....

I would like to see the numbers to back your claims up....esp with all the illegals coming from South America who are Catholic and are very religious
