Re: PA Primary Results.

One thing to keep in mind about the so-called "neoconservatives" is that the name is quite misleading. It's sometimes suggested that neocons are former liberals, but that's not true, either. What a lot of them are, is former New Left Marxists. And I don't think they've changed the essence of what they were doing before, because, unlike Old Left Marxists, the economics of socialism was not the core of their belief system. They were believers in curtailing freedom in service to a moralistic imperative, and they still are. Only the details have changed.

Well, that is a very interesting point in terms of their philosophy, and I think it makes sense. But I don't really see Bush or Cheney or Rice as a former self-defined new left Marxist.

There is always a new page in the book of American politics. The first chapter should be the winning back of the congress for the GOP - which none of us talk about.

Interesting post. Although many use Marxism in hyperbole when discussing lefties, IMO (and some others I know who lived most of their lives under communism) view Marx as having many capitalistic views.

Tbh i'm more surprised at him voting Kerry than you...i understand a bit of it with what you mean by divided Goverment but it seems you were more hoping for a check on the GOP movement of getting power than conserative values.

Some of the issues you spoke about would have gotten even further away from conservatism under Kerry but i'll respond to your post in a little more detail when i have a bit more time.

And what could be more moralistic than service to the Jew state?

Re: PA Primary Results.

Don't forget that Barack Obama has been doing a great job when it comes to superdelegates, as well. He's been rapidly gaining ground among the so-called superdelegates, cutting Senator Clinton's lead from more than 100 early this year to less than 25. Obama has a total of 238 publicly committed superdelegates and this number is likely to increase until and after May 6th.

When it comes to key voter groups, Barack was able to improve his standing among them since the Ohio primary.

Among white voters, Obama narrowed the gap by 6 points. Among voters over 60, he nearly cut the gap in half, from 41 points to 24 points.

Meanwhile, he continued to run strong where he has all along -- for example, winning voters ages 18-24 with over 65% of the vote.

These are important improvements that Obama has been able to make while he has been kept under constant attacked more severly than ever.

[Emphasis mine] If BO is feeling as if he is being severly attacked, that is more evidence of his lack of experience and naivite. Politics has long been a pugilistic sport. And he is up against a pro in that sport - Hillary. He needs to toughen up. I imagine he realizes that and how he goes about with counter attacks will be interesting to see. So far, his "change" message with no meat is not cutting it with the general population. Certainly, though, it is cutting it in some sects of the voting populace, but those sects are not numerous enough to influence the outcome of the general election. The SDs will be watching this closely, as well, as McCain certainly can be a rough opponent in the sport, too.

Re: PA Primary Results.

As Hillary heads towards defeat, she is doing (and saying) everything she can to undermine Obama's chances. She knows her only shot at the Presidency is McCain winning, and doing poorly his first term.

Making statements that Obama is not electable just proves that point. If she can't win, she is going to make damn sure Obama doesn't!

It sure is fun watching the Democrats eat their own.

As for Obama, he is a wimp. Hillary is right about that. I hate whiners.

I haven't seen any evidence that Obama is feeling "severly attacked". This cry from rightist that Obama is being emotionally scarred or something isn't really accurate. All politicians speak about platitudes that they don't really plan on implementing. Republicans have only recently stopped talking about balancing the budget when it became too obvious that they were never going to do it.

I think I hate Hillary and not just a little bit.

The "severely attacked" phrase was brought up by Sheriff. I can't say if BO feels that way or not, but Sheriff does (see the quote of his I used). That's why I used the word, "if" in my response. So, Sheriff said he is being severely attacked. If BO, indeed feels this way (I have yet to develop the ability to read minds), BO better toughen up. There's much more to come.
