Re: W Virginia keeps distance from Obama

i never mentioned patriotism. I mentioned not using the coffins of fallen soldiers as a pedestal for political pandering - by anyone.

Criticize all you like - just have a little class and some respect for the families of the human beings who lie in the coffins.

Your cause is absolutely political - you use the pictures of the coffins with the names of two politicians photoshopped in. It doesn't get any more political than that.

I am completely sincere, and I really wish you'd show a bit of respect and not use these dead servicemen as a political toy.

Matt

I would rather have had those human beings live and happy; not in coffins, but in their homes, with their familes.

If you have had any class and mind, you would join me in denouncing the mindset that have caused those human beings to lie in coffins in vain.

Re: W Virginia keeps distance from Obama

Sheriff, if I may offer some constructively meant food for thought ... please consider it in the light in which it is offered.

I certainly don't challenge your patriotism anymore than the others who think that sig is distasteful. Your stated intentions are well meaning and have a genuine point of debate purpose behind them as explained by you. People aren't required to not object to war issues, pussyfoot around and/or play delicate on deadly subjects and often shouldn't.

That said, I don't think this particular sig is helpful, though.

If a political picture is inflammatory to some people beyond the political message, it's unhelpful to the main point of it. There are plenty of pics that pack the same political punch that aren't inflammatory on other grounds. I certainly don't think Obama would choose a sig like that even if he was a private citizen given my impressions of him. And given he is running for office, pics like this from supporters are more harmful than helpful. I'm sure he'd ask any supporter to take such things down because he wouldn't like them personally and professionally.

I'd even wonder whether the dead in those photographs are even accurately represented by the political comment. I presume an anti-Iraq message with the depiction. If some of them died in Afghanistan, though, then IMO those people are definitely not being served well by the depiction given the nation has long supported that mission and going after AQ on an overwhelmingly bipartisan level.

If you had a clue what you are talking about, you would know I have expressed serious reservations about the war.

I denounce both the mindset that got those men and women killed and the mindset that it is OK to use their coffins for your own political purposes.

I deleted it and, again, it was not for a political purpose at all. However, now that war itself is a political weapon, how is it possible to keep it completely untainted by the little political calculations?

Those men/women died for political reasons, not for a noble cause. It was noble to die in Normandy, but not in Fallujah.

Germany did not attack us either. Most of us are against the decision to go into Iraq. Like Viet Nam, the tide of sentiment has turned. However, are we to line up 55K coffins & use them for policial purposes, to make a personal point. Whether or not one agrees with any war, all those coffins belong to us. They are all Americans.

That is the biggest pile of BULLSHIT to come out of you.

You call freeing millions of people from a brutal dictator not a noble cause?

Oh I forgot, you were all for the war until the body count started stacking up then you tucked tail between your legs and ran to the other side.

And so everyone knows, Sheriff has admitted to voting for Bush twice, 2000 and 2004. The Iraq war started in 2003. Sheriff voted for him again after the start of the war 20 months later.

No ducking out of this one Sheriff....or are you going to ignore this like the question I put forth for you to link where other people here have made false charges of racism and still no answer from you even though you use it as your excuse as to why you lied and posted fake post at a racist site to try and link McCain to a racist group to cover for Obama racist pastor.
