SUSAN SARANDON, who appeared in three films last year and won kudos for her TV movie "Bernard and Doris," is still not a contented soul. She says if John McCain gets elected, she will move to Italy or Canada. She adds, "It's a critical time, but I have faith in the American people."

*Yawn* It's always childishly ridiculous when I hear celebrities say that. It's virtually always an empty threat--if one really cares where they choose to live anyway apart from being a 'threat'. If someone wants to move for any reason at all, then that's perfectly their business if the other nation takes them. As US citizens with big contracts and investments they'll likely still have to pay the IRS anyway.

The thing is Italy is one the most bueatiful countries in the world, they have some amazing wine (some of the best in the world), their food is great...people have passion there and put pride into being eyetie's, and they have the best Opera singers the world has ever seen.

I would not wish for them to be plagued by the likes of Sarandon...i assume she lives in CA and i'd rather they were burdened by her in tinseltown in all honesty, a much scummier and more appropriately fitting environment for her to leach in.

as long as she stays away from sicily, I'll be happy, I bet she'd flourish amongst the smug northerners anyway.

Well, the rising number of facists in Italy might give her second thoughts about Italy being a liberal paradise. I wonder how she would appreciate the tax rates, reknowned corruption, etc, too.

Yeah tell me about it, and in Italy they put so much pride into their cooking, generally the American/British/Australian cuisine leaves a lot to be desired.

But you guys at least have better beer than we do, Candian and European imports generally tend to top the list of regular American beer drinkers, but Ireland has a nice drop.

I think its a bit like when you said people have goofy/or typically stereotypical views of the Irish through film like "The Quiet man"; Italy is beautiful but she probably didn't factor in the very conservative principles of the people, the fact they are possibly the only people more staunchly Christian on the face of the planet than Mexicans and that they take pride in their families and loved ones.

Canada is probably a better pick for her, also in Italy the language barrier is not that easy to get round, in most nations English is usually a second spoken language but in Italy not so much so, they are very proud and love their herritage and history.

She would probably think she's off to a lovely land of kumbaya and wind up living in a small village with beautiful ceney in which there isn't a single divorce and wives stay at home with children taking care of the house while the man/husband is at work.

Oh and let us not forget her career...everytime she is on TV she'll have to remember its at the mercy of the produces of the outlets run by a conservative right winger and the same for everytime she's in the papers.

Sometimes i wonder how we market so many of our Hollywood productions round the world, which such imbacilles starring in them...

Is she trying to hurt of help the McCain campaign by issuing a statement like this?
