State One Reason Why You are Voting for Obama

Pretty much what the topic says. Please leave the sarcasm and off topic remarks aside. I just want supporters to list one specific reason why you would vote for Obama. Critics, please hold off until supporters have had some time to respond.

Sen Obama was smart enough to see through the flood of misinformation put out by the current administration and stand up and speak out against the debacle in Iraq BEFORE the invasion and occupation.

I've got a boatload more, but you asked for just one.

A hope that he'll get us out of Iraq and Afghanistan and reduce military spending. Those are all connected, equaling one reason.

Re: State One Reason Why You are Voting for Obama

I'm not allowed to vote in the us, but I sure would for Obama. Just one reason: he has the necessary credibility (esp. abroad) and ability to understand complex issues in order to join international (not only political) forces to achieve real solutions. This is important for any economical, ecological and political problems the world faces right now. The US needs to get back the moral ground it lost and this is not possible with somebody who think's it's funny to sing "Bomb, bomb Iran!".

I could state some more, but well you asked for one....

He's young.

Pretty sure I don't want him to be the next President, though...

Re: State One Reason Why You are Voting for Obama

I haven't picked who I am going to vote for yet but my biggest things that I do like about him is that he wouldn't nominate social conservative judges most likely, I am in favor of universal health care, and I think that he would take stronger action on climate change. However, I lean towards McCain when it comes to a focus on cutting spending and free trade.

Since the us seems to spend most of it's money on military follies and GWB was big on spending when directed to his buddies, I'd give more credit to the Dems and Obama on fiscal responsibility!

min. 2.000.000.000$ / week
104.000.000.000$ / year
416.000.000.000$ / term
10.400.000.000.000$ / McCain outlook

There's only one place for spending cuts of any significance and that's the military/wars. When it comes to those items, McCain is a mirror of Bush administration spending. Free trade is a concept not currently practiced.

Re: State One Reason Why You are Voting for Obama

1. He wants to focus U.S. on scientific advancement. This includes alternative energies and medical research. He will not allow the religious right to stranglehold scientific progress.

2. He truly understands why the European early educational system is so much stronger than ours and he plans on implementing systems that work here. For example, you test kids at the start of the year and at the very end of the year. You fund art and music research because those kinds of classes have been proven to spur innovation across the board.

3. 21st Century New Deal-Domestic Jobs. He's got GREAT ideas about economic jobs that can't be outsourced.
-Public Transportation Infrastructure: We've already seen these past few months that Americans need public transportation. Existing systems are being overwhelmed by commuters who can't pay higher gas prices. Many big cities without public transport are scrambling. We need to put resources out of reconstructing Iraq and put them towards reconstructing and creating public transportation infrastructure that will save commuters money and keep commuters revenue out of the hands of oil companies and send them back into local goverment. If done correct, public transport.
-Conservation retrofitting. You want to figure out what skilled laborers can do now that manufacturing is gone? Energy effeciency is going to be a huge part of saving on energy costs, conservation techniques can be built into buildings and will require skilled labor to do it.
-Alternative energy production. Solar panels need to be constructed as do Windmills and hydrogen fuel cells. All of these processes can be done in the United States, again you can't outsource that job.

Yesterday, John McCain actually said that if he’s president he’ll take on, and I quote, 'the old boys’ network in Washington.' I’m not making this up. This is somebody been in Congress for 26 years, who put seven of the most powerful Washington lobbyists in charge of his campaign. And now he tells us that he’s the one who’s gonna take on the old boys' network,” he said. “In the McCain campaign that’s called a staff meeting!- Obama, 9/17/2008

Not sure who I'm voting for yet, but I imagine if I do vote for Obama, it will be for the same reason that I usually vote for any candidate: because he's slightly less evil than the person he's running against (McCain, in this case).

And most could be accomplished with funds currently being spent on aggressive wars and a military bloated all out of proportion.

I'm kidding, of course. Well, half kidding anyway.
