I thought this was an interesting online device.
The predictions are made by the NPR political editor, I presumed based on the latest polling in individual states. You can change the predictions or assign votes to the "toss up" states and see how it effects the electoral math. You can also see how things went down in the last three presidential elections.

Currently, the maps predicts 232 votes for McCain and 200 for Obama, with major players like MI, OH, and PA up for grabs.

I've just discovered that, if you work at it, you can create a tie where both candidates get only 269 electoral votes, thus giving the decision to congress. Wouldn't THAT be exciting!

I love NPR so it pains me to say this, but their electoral map is all wrong and does not have the most recent polls. This website, electoral-vote.com tracks every poll for every state. Tracks them and averages them to determine who would win the state today. They are incredibly accurate and totally non-biased. They have Obama at 287 and McCain at 222 with 24 states tied. I say what many think but fail to say but would like to.

You mean 2 states (worth 24 electoral votes together) tied.
I think the difference is mostly that the NPR map leaves more of the "barely..." and "weak..." states as "toss ups."

I like the ability to shift the states around and see how the electoral math works out. E.G. take the 2000 results and flip NV and NH and you get a tie.
