Americans it's time to be furious with our government!

Our government has become the most ineffective government that I have ever seen. This mainly created by all the in-fighting between Republicans & Democrats. It's no wonder that congress has the lowest level approval rating of all time at 9%.

Yesterday, President Bush lifted the ban on drilling in this country that was imposed decades ago. In fact, we have not even been able to test-drill in this country for the last 25 years.

What did democrat house leader Nancy Pelosi do? She refused to bring the bill to the floor for a vote. Instead she came up with the ridiculous notion to release our federal oil reserves, in order to shave off a couple of cents per gallon for a very short period of time. Others have called to exempt the per gallon tax, while stating that any drilling would not come on-line for another 10 years, so why do it anyway. I say, in 10 to 150 years we will still have some need for oil & natural gas, regardless of how green we get.

The hyocrisy is: All of these same politicans have called for energy independance. They say they don't want to be dependant on foreign oil, yet they refuse to drill in our own country.

The wacco-enviromentalists have had their way. Al Gore got what he wanted. $5.00 per gallon gasoline. The enviromentalists stopped ANWAR, along John McCain voting against it. They have stopped deep-water off shore drilling for oil & natural gas. (Most people are not aware that we have 4000 rigs in the Gulf of Mexico that was hit by a cat 5 hurricane, (Katrina). Not one of those rigs spilled one drop of oil. Our technology today & enviormentally friendly ways are so far advanced today than they were in decades past. Yet, the democrats, including OBAMA still say no off-shore drilling.

This while Ted Kennedy voted against WIND GENERATION, in the Chesopeek bay, as they may detract from his view.

While we all want green-renewable energy, we will always have some need for oil & natural gas. If we want energy independance, we have to find our own sources. Otherwise in 10 years, we may be involved in another costly war over oil.

The hypocrisy within our government is unbelievable! I hope you will join me, & write your senators & congressmen & tell them to get off their butts.

It's easy: go to congress.com & senate.com. While you're at it, you can also e-mail Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama & John McCain.

American Solutions - Petitions

While you're at it, drop them a 50 spot. People put your money where your mouth is. Better yet become a monthly contributor. The only way DC will listen is if we can get enough people screaming demanding head will roll at election time. That takes money and lots of it. Think of it as an a investment for your future.

I have already done that. They put this petition, 1 MILLION signatures as of yesterday to congress, & congress IGNORED IT!

I'll tell you, if they don't do something NOW, I will vote AGAINST every encumbant who has opposed drilling in this country. (Mostly democrats, I may add.)

One million signatures equals just less that 1/3 of a percent of citizens of the USA. Even the lifelong oilman T.Boone Pickens has come to the realization that this is a crisis we CANNOT drill our way out of.

Drilling is just one of way's. Yet the democrats have been blocking every energy bill put forward. Explain why?

You're a little incorrect there. T. Boone Pickens is all for drilling for natural gas reserves which our congress will not allow either. We import that too. They estimate there is a source of this off of Santa Barbara, CA that can heat our homes for at least the next 4 years. Pickens has stated he wants to go to natural gas autos.

Again, there is no question that we need to go to green renewable energy. But, to be completely independant from all sources of energy--we also need to drill for our own oil.

BTW--I am all for what T. Boone Pickens is doing.

Great...

... let us know when they're done with the 68 million acres of untouched existing leases and we'll talk about some new ones.

(I won't bother to mention why it is that there isn't drilling going on them now, since an expert like you surely knows why.)

Why not just stop voting for ANY incumbent, Democrat or Republican?
It doesn't matter which party you oppose as it only gives tacit support to the other, useless party. Like they say, if you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem. All I keep seeing is problems and no solutions.

Well the experts, not you, have said the 68 million acres do not hold enough oil worth the time and money to fool with.

To be efficient, they have to drill where the oil & natural gas IS. Therefore, they look for the largest source of this, which is off-shore in deep water.

My aunt leases property in AZ for gold mining. Yet, no one has drawn out one ounce of it, because there are larger sources elsewhere.

That's exactly why there is so much drilling in the middle east.

I'm very close to agreeing to that. I am an independant, therefore I am not owned by either party. If I see STUPID on either side, I can & will vote against it.

Now 3 million as of today have signed this petition. If the democrats don't get off their butts & vote for this bill, this is going to hurt them in November.

The only thing Harry Reid is doing in investigating "speculators" in the oil futures market. The price of oil drops when we say we drill. Speculators bidding up the price of oil stops in it's tracks.

We'll see who gets "hurt" in November on the heels of the largest inflation numbers in a quarter century. I think you both completely underestimate the intelligence of the Amercan voter and insult it. Listening to "conservatives" and following their "free market" and "deregulation" and "pre-emptive war" policies is what got us to the brink of economic collapse we are facing. The greedy bastards at the big oil corporations are even trying to use that to scare us into handing over more of OUR PUBLIC LANDS for them to rape and pillage. FUCK 'EM, not one more lease until they have finished each and every acre they already have. I and many, many others WILL NOT be fooled by these UnAmerican Criminals and their lies.

Re: Americans it's time to be furious with our government!

1) Investment in Wind and Solar technologies

2) A National Initiative to Conserve Energy

Those are the only two immediate things that can be done where America could save 10% of the oil it gets in just the next two years, but no American leader is patriotic enough to demand a little national sacrifice from the people anymore.

Going to the moon was the last successful national initiative. That's pathetic.

We need to begin to see oil as the way of the past. Drilling for more now is too late. It'll take at least 5 years to see any of it.

We had no way in hell of knowing how to get to the moon, only that someone challenged us to do it, and we did it in 8 years. If we can do that, than we can figure out a way to make our cars run on shit. Even the luxury automobiles.

Investing in the way of the future will commence the next huge technology boom, but it seems like American leaders are too timid to demand anything.

Denmark leads Europe with 26% of it's power coming from wind technology. That's fucking amazing. We're at 1%.

If I were President, I would challenge the nation and invest heavily to meet a standard where wind and solar power generate 33% of our energy, 5 years from now.

I'd love to see a day when every single office building, gov't building, arena, and appartment building generating it's own energy.

We can get off the oil quite easily; we just need to put a tad of effort into it. It'll reduce gas prices, it'll reduce people's hydro bills, and we'll live cleaner.

You sir, have nailed it!

We stand at the edge on a new age, the choice we make now will determine the viability of the USA to remain a world player for generations to come. We can stay mired in a self-destructive technology to benefit the greedy few, one that is destined to fail or we can move now towards a much better future for ourselves and our children, their children and on and on. I'm damn tired of hearing excuses as why to "we can't ____________ " from people without any vision. Well if you can't, get the fuck out of the way and let those of us that do, do it for you. In the meantime, don't expect us to stand by and let you further damage OUR planet. It's the ONLY one we've got and you've done more than enough to ruin it already.
