A Ego the size of a watermelon and a 30 piece bucket of chicken.

Quote:
Joan Vennochi

The audacity of ego

Barack Obama always was a larger-than-life candidate with a healthy ego. Now he's turning into the A-Rod of politics. It's all about him.
He's giving his opponent something other than issues to attack him on: narcissism.

A convention hall isn't good enough for the presumptive Democratic nominee. He plans to deliver his acceptance speech in the 75,000 seat stadium where the Denver Broncos play. Before a vote is cast, he's embarking on a foreign policy tour that will use cheering Europeans - and America's top news anchors - as extras in his campaign. What do you expect from a candidate who already auditioned a quasi-presidential seal with the Latin inscription, "Vero possumus" - "Yes, we can"?
Obama finds criticism of his wife "infuriating" and doesn't want either of them to be the target of satire. Tell that to the Carters, the Reagans, the Clintons, and the Bushes, father and son.

There's no such thing as a humble politician. But when Obama looks into the mirror, he doesn't just see a president; he sees JFK.

In 1960, John F. Kennedy accepted his party's nomination with an outdoor speech at the Los Angeles Coliseum. But he waited until he was elected before going to Germany to declare "Ich bin ein Berliner."

The fashionistas have already noted Michelle Obama's affinity for chanelling Jackie. And it's hard to watch the Obama daughters "Access Hollywood" interview and not think about Caroline and John F. Kennedy Jr. back in the days of Camelot. So far, Dad is only promising to get the kids a dog, not a pony named Macaroni.

Republican John McCain has the opposite challenge. As a candidate, he's shrinking, thanks to a series of gaffes, stumbles, and generally uninspiring speeches. But McCain has one thing going for him: the appearance of modesty.

Who the hell does Obama think he is?

I wonder if 50 cent is going to support Obama and rap at one of his 75,000 stadium shows? Both have the same size ego so they need a stadium that big just to hold them.

And the new fashion Michelle is bring to our youth? Camo, no bra tank tops and jump boots. Back to the day of the black empowerment. Huey would be proud.

Err....so you are somehow making the connection between a style of clothing and black empowerment?

I doubt you were alive in the 60's. Yes the two are connected. Black jump boots, camo pants, usually a black leather jacket with a white patch with the black panther logo.

The title is funny, blacks loving chicken and watermelon and all...

But more ironic is the fact that the Dems finally nominate a black and somehow they think its a good idea to take fried chicken off the menu...

Dont get me wrong, I will be the first to elbow you out of line for first dibs on a piece of yard bird. And can spit a stream of water melon seeds at you that will put a M-60 to shame.

As Joey would say

Watermelon good
Chicken good
What's not to like?

I am just not buying the koolaid Obama is selling to wash it all down

Heh...

Personally i think the reason he has said no to fried food along with the DNC is so he can keep up this Messiah complex he has, he'll increase the size of the crowd, a huge stadium, get them all in and then think he can feed them all with 2 slices of bread!

Re: A Ego the size of a watermelon and a 30 piece bucket of chicken.

And if McCain could draw a crowd that size and Obama couldn't, what would your opinion be then?

Would you still be pissing all over him?

If you're running for President and you don't think you're bright or elite in some kind of way, than you shouldn't be running at all.

McCain is "modest"? How exactly? By giving one of the worst speeches I've ever heard in front of an ugly green screen the very night that Obama made history in America? Or by showing up at a Yankees game with Rudy and letting Rudy trash Obama? At a baseball game no less? By attacking Obama for not going overseas enough, and then attacking for going overseas?

You just sound really jealous because your guy isn't charismatic, can't talk about the economy to save his life, is behind on the fact that the war is ending, can't give speeches in arenas because his demographic goes to bed too early, and the fact that now that Obama is travelling abroad, everyone loves the guy. Everyone sees him as the America that once was and could be again. Bush and Cheney and McCain and their bunch were followed with bombings and massive protests and threats, and Obama goes over there and people can't wait to meet him and the PM of Iraq announces that Obama's plan is precisely what's called for right now.

On top of everything else, it's like Clinton with this guy: the more the right attacks him or his wife, the more the people will like him.

McCain keeps doing himself no favors by playing the grumpy-old-man card.

One question: Why isn't McCain being his charismatic old self? I remember him as a really charming guy who could tell it like it is. Where is that guy now?

I'd like to see nickels and pennies and dimes fall instead of ballons.

That would be real change we could believe in.

Right, except what I'm talking about is that wearing those does not mean this is a black empowerment move. Not necessarily. You might as well start drawing connections between wearing armbands and Nazism.

Geez, you have a good memory, that image of McCain, from 2000, is what most people had a year ago, then this grumpy old man showed up with a whole different set of positions.

Obama think's he going to be the next POTUS, and he will. He want's the 75000 seat stadium because he can fill it, basically, you're bitching because he's popular, and McCain isn't.

He aged. Look at the man, I'm not voting for him partially as a mercy. The Presidency is VERY tough on people physically and McCain simply wouldn't make it past his first term.

Ronald Reagan was the same age, but Reagan appeared a hale 45 in 1980. McCain looks like what he is, a tired, old man.

I would be more concerned about him going south and having his staff run the country from behind the scenes.

Ah yes, another day, another "Obama is the anti-Christ" thread from Lost Soul.

In response to your post: so Obama has different tastes in music, and has been exposed to a different social culture ... big deal. Would you rather he listened to Billy Ray Cyrus, pretended to be a rancher and chewed tobacco, and sucked up the ass of every religious evangelist in the South ... why then he'd be running for President .. as a Republican.....
