Obama violated that rule in a big way.
So did Kennedy (the alleged "Missile Gap"), LBJ (the daisy ad), Nixon (accusing Democrats of being soft on Communism), Reagan (ditto), and Bush (scare-mongering about Islamic terrorists). In fact, I'd say you would be hard-pressed to find a politician in our history who has not used foreign relations for domestic political purposes. "Rule number one" is not only violated more in the breach than the observance, it is never observed.

What's just fucking pathetic is that people are so willing to give Obama a pass for doing what Presidents before him have done. He's supposed to be the candidate of "change", isn't he?

If he is truly about change, why aren't his supporters up in arms about him doing what others have done before him? Because, you see, he is not the candidate of "change". He is the candidate of "douchebag".

Sadly, the libs in this country ren't gonna' smarten the fuck up until the put Obama in office, and then come to the very stark realization that there's no change to be seen...

The saying relates to the behavior of American politicians when they are in other countries and what they say to foriegn audiences, not what they say to American audiences. Nice try though.

"Candidate of Change"...

Rather than rationally disliking things done by Obama, you seem to be inventing excuses to dislike him. Your argument here is that since Obama has proposed to introduce various (perhaps unspecified) changes, that any incidence of something he does not change is indicative of "douchebaggery". That is, he should succeed where other politicians have failed, forgo engaging in behaviors in which other politicians have engaged, and probably not do anything that has ever been done before by anyone. Essentially, you're taking a marketing/campaign slogan and introducing a level of literal absurdity in its application - presumably to justify your own apparent and unrelated contempt for him.

After all, why not criticize him for having a penis and testicles, just like every candidate before him? Or, perhaps the fact that the douchebag Obama has a heart, kidneys, lungs, and a brain. Candidate of change, my ass - remove one of your lungs, or fuck off, Obama! You're just like everyone else!
