They're too worried about oil spills, yet neglect to realise that the Gulf Coast with more than 4000 rigs--not one of them spilled one drop of oil when hit by a cat 5 hurricane (Katrina.)

Re: Democrats Adjourn Congress, Republicans Stay and Work

TOO ALL THE LIBS THAT AGREE WITH OBAMA'S ENERGY POLICY OF INFLATING OUR TIRES.

How many Americans drive on flat tires, or under inflated tires? Also, how many cars need to have tune-up's now-a-days? Cars that are NEWER than 1985 have computer chips installed. No need for new spark plugs or tune-ups. Most all cars since 1985 have computer chips in them that tell us when something is wrong.

The Obama campaign must believe that we're all driving around on bald tires & in old cars.

And, I really hope because the "messiah" has told us about tire inflation, that we do not have some nut cases out there, that have absolutely no clue, "are not over-inflating their tires because they believe that they'll get better gas mileage. The manufacturers recommendation on air pressure, is there for a reason. Too over inflate tires is extremely hazardous. It can cause blow-outs, hydroplaneing & all kinds of problems that could lead to very serious accidents on our highways. So PLEASE go with the manufacturers recommendations, & not the hype from the messiah.

Why is this a dumb idea again?

5 billion gallons of gasoline is not a small number.

Softer ride=lower mpg
Harder ride=higher mpg

There are many things that each and every one of us can do to get better use of the fuel that we use.

I remember the day when Teens would drive their cars down one road for about 2 miles over 2 blocks and then back 2 miles...
it was the friday and saturday night CRUSE nights,,,, but that is a thing of the past with the fuel prices the way they are.. now if prices come down that might start up again, it would not be a good use but that would be their choice.

Exactly "how many Americans drive around on flat or under inflated tires? That's what the study cannot determine for fact. Since this under-inflated issue came up, I have been staring at others tires. To see if they're bulging under the weight of the car, indicating under-inflated tires.

I have yet to see one single car that even looks like the tires need more air.

In fact, today I took my car in for the regular oil change. The last time I needed to do it was in April. The tech, as always checked my tires for the proper pressure & did not need to add any air to any of the tires on my car.

Obama also stated that we need to get "regular tune-ups". Tune--ups, spark plugs & points are the thing of the past. In fact pre 1985 models.

Was this survey on tire pressure & tune-up's done before 1985? In order to take Obama seriously about tune-up's, it sure sounds like this survey, including tire pressure & proper inflation was done prior to 1985.

This theory is a crock, because everyone who owns a car, knows to keep their tires properly inflated. It's also very easy to notice if the tires are not inflated properly. Ever tried to steer a car with flat tires? It really doesn't handle very well.

This is nothing more than a crock--in an attempt to cover up the obvious.

Obama's & Nancy Pelosi's blatant unwillingness to drill off-shore for our own oil & natural gas, in all out effort to keep us dependant on foreign sources of energy.

In a Nutshell......the Dems want high gas prices.

That is why they refuse to do anything about it.

They can blame whomever they want for what caused it......it doesn't conceal the fact that they are happy that we are paying more for gas.

Look at the price of everything since the first of the year. Food has gone up 29% since Jan 1st. A dinnette set I was looking at went from $599 to $650 in a week. Everything is more expensive. And the Democrats are telling us to check our tires. Set your thermostate at 78, eat bugs.

In all reality they are saying "Let them eat cake".

There's a difference between "flat" tires and "under inflated" tires. I regularly look at my tires to make sure they aren't getting low on air. However, it is very easy to be 10 or so psi under-inflated and not see much visibly wrong with the tire, especially the rear tires. Even if you think your tires look fine, you still need to check your pressure with a good gage once in a while. And there are a lot of people who don't know that.

Under-inflated tires do waste gasoline, that is not a crock - but I hardly think Obama is basing his entire energy policy on checking your tire pressure. It was given as one example of things you can do to save on energy.

Took me 10 seconds to find it.

According to the GAO, more than 25% of cars and 1/3 of light trucks (SUVs, vans, pickups) have one or more tires underinflated by 8 psi or more.

http://www.gao.gov/new.items/d07246r.pdf

8 PSI is not enough to cause the bulging you're looking for. It is enough to cause gasoline wastage.

5 billion gallons of gasoline per year are wasted.

FYI, some republican house members are still at Capitol Hill pushing to continue the debate on energy.

In a nutshell, the Republicans want high gas prices.

That is why they refused to do anything about it and spent the last 10 years pushing policies to make it happen.

In reality, they are saying "Let them eat cake!" The free market is alive and well, and giving our friendly oil company donors resounding profits.

I am desperately searching for a single verifiable fact within your posting.

Facts, schmacts, just keep on channeling Michael Moore! I hope the Krusty Kreme residue ruins your keyboard.

Over-inflation is indeed dangerous...and how many libtards would be inclinded to follow the flawed logic of "If 'X' is good, 'X' + 'Y' must be better."?

I'm trying not to laugh at the prospect of Birkenstock-clad fools and their Volvos - littering the roadside ditches...tire remnants everywhere. "Why hath thou forsaken me, Obama?!?!!!??!"

B.O. would probably do better to suggest legalizing weed to save gas. For every extra Domino's Pizza driver that would be required to be on the road, at least a few dozen losers would never leave their basements.
