51% is not enough to change the Constitution which provides for equal protection under the law.

Re: Democrats Adjourn Congress, Republicans Stay and Work
Pelosi is the all knowing parent that knows what is better for you and me.
We should be thanking her for this in sight to the future. In 1911 the House controled by the Dems voted to cap the number at 435 and for the bulk of the years from then to now they have controled the house with their ideas and ways of doing things. The Dems finally came around on the idea that no matter the color of skin we where the same when public opion forced them to take notice.... maybe they will hear the public again only on this matter of energy.

Secondly, "equal protection under the law" is just about the weakest argument you can me - for anything. I'll let faggots marry if we start paying a flat taxes across the board and do away with all racial, gender, and economic class-based legislation. Why not mandate that model rail road enthusiasts have the right link up and enjoy all marriage benefits, too, as their hobby has as much to do with marriage as pillowbiting does. "Equal protection under the law." Now, that was funny! Was it intentional? |

So, Equal Protection Under the Law is only a valid argument, to you, when advancing leftism?
Just admit it and we can move along. |

Re: Democrats Adjourn Congress, Republicans Stay and Work
I find it very funny that when there's one time the Democrats actually show some spine the conservatives on this board are going nuts.

Not sure to what you're referring (seems OT), but no.

Re: Democrats Adjourn Congress, Republicans Stay and Work
It doesn't take much to set off the neocons, however I don't see how going on a long vacation and not getting any work done constitutes as "showing some spine".

How about refusing to kowtow to demagoguery?

However how can you say that a solution ten years from now is a better solution to the problems of today? That seems equally disingenuous. If there is a real crisis then it's a perfectly appropriate use of the bloated SPR. Everything about the demand for increased offshore drilling smacks of profiteering rather than patriotism. But Obama has it right. We'll swallow your bad idea if it helps us get to an energy policy that truly encourages renewables. Your move... |

Re: Democrats Adjourn Congress, Republicans Stay and Work
So if I took a nap while my neighbor's house was on fire instead of calling the fire department would you say I'm standing up to the public pressure of common decency?

I think he means blocking our energy plans. But if he thinks that's bad then wait and see what happens if Obama gets elected.... |
