Re: Obama opens mouth and inserts foot, again.
Yeah - I am amazed at how this isn't made more visible in the media...err wait...not surprising at all when you practically have the media in your campaign.
Obama to me, says all the right things in many respects, however he also carries another motto - "believe in me by my words and not my actions"

Re: Obama opens mouth and inserts foot, again.
Another glaring example of when the junior Senator goes off-script he ends up going off-track. While he can deliver one hell of a speech and fill the collection plates to overflowing, he wanders into dangerous waters when entertaining Q and A.
Much like his off the cuff remarks on bilingualism and his "inflate your tires" remark; when speaking extemperaneously he invariably gets himself in trouble. This bodes ill for the upcoming debates and highlights one of the reasons he refused to debate Senator Clinton any further once he mathematically had the nomination sown up; he fears himself and what he might unknowingly say in the heat of the moment. Accordingly, he opted to play prevent defense and run out the clock. I would venture this is the primary reason for the Obama campaign declining to honor its original agreement to engage Senator McCain on a cross-country town hall tour. |

Mostly it is attributed to his wife, although it is often quoted as if Obama said it - one site has it quoted as Hillary saying it. I went through 3 google pages and did not see anywhere this quote is listed except on blog sites and forums. So - who really knows if it is a real quote, or bastardized quote.

some may not like the "straws" the OP laid out, but they are their words and like it or not again, some folks don't cotton to being called or made out to be aggrieved "victims"....etc. I'd say overall hes again, the benefactor of luck, he had this vacation penciled n for a while but yes, 26% of dems even think they don’t know enough or see enough of McCain and 48% of the country in general have seen enough of obama for now.....McCain needs to be very careful in the next 10 days. IMHO, he can lose the election with the light he should have on him, and the balance is- if he can make pull it together, he can also make headway and separate himself as a “candidate” and idnentifty even further. Of course if Obama comes back the polls have not moved goober will tell me its because barak is barak, may blessing be upon him, and McCain sux, if the poll show McCain ahead, its because barak wasn’t around, instant winner…there ya go goober, I saved you the trouble.

Newt has some great advice for him to take advantage of this window by demonstrating how the lack of an energy solution on the dem's part impacts regualar people. And do it right where regular people are, small businesses, factories and the like. Can't find the link dammit !, it was a great plan.

I submit that the cause of what you're seeing here is the natural conclusion of the American "frontier" mentality. That is, hyper-competitiveness, individualism, proving oneself, etc. Throughout much of American history, this resulted in exploration, innovation, bravery, pioneering, etc. But now, with Manifest Destiny fulfilled and most people living with two cars, a house, and 2.3 kids, there is nothing left to explore. But, this vestigial mentality remains, and it causes Americans to crave semi-gladiatorial sense of competition in all things, and our political process is no different. Think about how the election campaigns go. Even the debates are set up as adversarial with "winner" and "loser" as prognosticated by the endless stream of pundits. Hell, they probably divide them into "rounds" and use metaphors like "on the ropes" and "knockout punch". It seems to me that a debate (and campaigns) ought to be more about hashing out sensible policy ideas than anything else, but for us, it's about picking a team to root for, and getting really pissed off if that team doesn't win. Just like if you watch your team lose a Monday Night football game, you knock back a few beers, angrily shove your wife out of the way, and head on down to the pub so that you can commiserate with fellow loyalists or get in fights with people there gloating. And, because of this adversarial setup, people who lack education or political awareness can get in on the debate (this is also aided by simplistic wedge issues like abortion or gay marriage). It isn't even necessary to understand anything about politics or policy to pick a team and root, root, root for it. I remember sitting in a bar some months ago, and listening to this idiotic liberal woman scream about how "The Republicans" were trying to "keep her poor". I asked which specific policies she was referring to, and she actually asked "how am I supposed to know?!?" I settled up and went somewhere else. All you need to participate in the process is a strong, uninformed opinion, and to remember that the less you know, the louder you should be. This is the essential rule of US politics. So, that's is where the insults come from. I don't think the insults you mention cause the level of discourse to be silly. I think it runs a lot deeper than that.

http://www.obamaunveiled.com/index_f...helleObama.mp3 (note: a lot of some common-tater talking it up/down but the facts are in there) at about 1:30 into the clip he tells us that its from a speech at the University of South Carolina (I forgot to note the date) and at about 2:00 into it is her actually speaking. I would think its easy enough to find based on that.

Bitter, that's all that can be used to describe you guys. What exactly is wrong with this statement. Or the other one? It's not evident to all of us, can you defend why it's a problem?

This is somebody been in Congress for 26 years, who put seven of the most powerful Washington lobbyists in charge of his campaign. And now he tells us that he’s the one who’s gonna take on the old boys' network,” he said. “In the McCain campaign that’s called a staff meeting!- Obama, 9/17/2008 |

The only thing wrong with the comment is "This is America"...as if singling America out as the only civilization with these traits...indeed America has less of this problem than others around the world.
