Obama opens mouth and inserts foot, again.

When a seven year old asks Obama at a campaign stop in Elkhart, Indiana, "Why do you want to be President?"

Obama tells her, “America is …, uh, is no longer, uh … what it could be, what it once was. And I say to myself, I don’t want that future for my children.”

YouTube - Sen. Barack Obama in Elkhart Indiana part 7

WHAT!? That's what you say to a seven year old? Just goes to show you the man cannot do a town hall forum with out sticking his foot in his mouth. Sure he's great with a prepared speech that is all fluff, but get him away from the TelePrompTer and its "uh, ... uh, ... uh, ... can't I just finish my waffle."

If his answer sounds familiar perhaps you have met his wife, Michelle Obama

“Sometimes it’s easier to hold onto your own stereotypes and misconceptions. It makes you feel justified in your ignorance. That’s America.”

and

“Let me tell you something. For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country, because it feels like hope is making a comeback.”

Between the two of them we could make some great slogans:

America, home of the ignorant and the bitter clingers, the land not what it once was.

Strange couple. She can only find pride in America now, because enough Americans voted for her husband to elect him the Democrat nomination, while he thinks America is …, uh, is no longer, uh … what it could be, what it once was. One lacks pride in Americas past, the other lacks pride in America present.

This is my straw. Let me show you how I grasp it.

I've been watching your postings for a while and noticed that the Mahasattva seems a remarkably astute student of the Maharushi. Couldn't you save yourself and the rest of us a lot of trouble by just repeatedly posting the link to the Limbaugh Letter or whatever it's called?

Do you hate original thoughts?

Its good for the BHO camp he's going on vacation. Its one week he can't screw up (assuming he eschews the press).

Is that what they're calling it, a vacation?

It couldn't possibly be because polls show a majority of people are getting tired of hearing about Obama, could it?

Nah, it's been known about for some time but certainly is timely.

Whats odd has been Michelle's absence broken only in the last day or two. Where has she been ?

Guarantee it's a campaign swing through his childhood memories to show he's really not a scary guy.

The "hate-threads" here are boring, but they're revealing of how Americans see each other.

When an American goes through life, going to diners, on the subway, at the mall, at corner stores, relating to other Americans, they are really good people one-on-one: open, attentive, warm, humourous.

Ask yourself this: when it comes to politics, why then are Americans made to turn on each other and practically wish for the other candidate's death?

If those Americans at the malls and diners were talking politics, they wouldn't get along so well.

I don't disagree with that statement. But think about why that is.

Americans, like any other free people, mostly choose to get along in their everyday lives, do favors for each other, whatever.

But when it comes to politics, Americans have been made to hate each other through brainwashing. Meanwhile, the lobbyists and special interests as well as the politicians, they all get along just fine. In Washington, it's like pro-wrestling; they pretend to step in the ring with each other and duke it out, but they all end up at the same bar after work. Americans have been duped but they don't even know it.

I see the cause of the divisiveness differently. When involved in discussions about politics, too often condescension and insults are used. For example, "Group A is too stupid to see the truth." Or, "Groups B is too brainwashed to see what is really going on." You see?

Yup. Partisanship does that to people despite themselves.

Offshore drilling for instance. It's getting everyone divided along partisan lines now, but more than 2 or 3 months ago, it wasn't even an issue since all the experts agreed that since America holds so little of the world's oil reserves, no amount of drilling would be able to cure it. Lifting the ban on offshore drilling doesn't guarantee that oil companies are going to just start drilling a.s.a.p. in order to help out the average consumer. Besides, if they're to drill and 5 to 7 years from now we see some oil, why would they sell it to us when they could get more money from say, France?

McCain and Obama had the decency to be informed about this before they ran for President, but now they're both backtracking, obfuscating, and flip-flopping because it's politically expedient to do so, not because the idea has any merit.

But this lie is now being used to divide us, and it's a sick joke, frankly, since no oil man is going to come to our rescue, no matter how much we keep investing in them. All the tax cuts and capital gains tax cuts and corporate welfare in the world won't change those people, as seen by the policies of recent years.
