Re: Congresswoman says half house may vote for Hillary!

The Clintons are willing to lie. The Clintons are willing to attack an ally. The Clintons are willing to play the race card. The Clintons are willing to use what ever dirty tactic is in the book to win the race.

It's possible I can agree with those.

I don't think the Clintons are fools.

That's one thing I could definately agree with. The Clintons unfortunately aren't always the most respectful polititons, but they know Hillary wouldn't win a November election and if Hillary did win the nomination they would be a couple of the most hated polititions in modern history.

Hillary might have won if she was the noninee. She can't win now Obama has been campaigning for 2 months as the democrat's candidate.

And if she gets the most votes on the floor vote.... ?

You try to think as though the Clintons play fair. That isn't the case.

Don't count Hillary out yet. Obama thinks it's clear sailing to the nomination, but Hillary could (and would) do a Bobbit on him. To watch the nomination get yanked during the convention would be the video of the century. As little political experience Obama has, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see him get blindsided by Clinton.
I mean she could theoretically win, which does make this really fun, but for me i may have to go because Kathy will likely be involved heavily even if she doesn't say yes to the VP even though Obama still has her as his number 1 choice as she is a long time family friend.

What pisses me off is that my weekend falls on two of those days, and I may very liokely be called in to help with idiots on the protest. Well, guaranteed, you won't see me bashing anyone, even if they need it. I'm way too close to another, and hopefully final, retirement.
Noooo, don't sacrifice your principles all for the sake of a pension!

But yeah i may have to liase with the USSS so that i don't get dragged into security proceedings if all goes bad. I mean say the Clinton, sorry Arkansas chair was gunned down by the Obama team and Hillary retaliates at the convention with an assasination of her own?

It is numerically impossible for her to get the most votes on the floor next week. Over 100 delegates or so that Obama won would have to break from him, and then every single Super Delegate that's behind him would also have to break from him in order for her to win.

Besides, there are people in the New York delegation and other states, and Super Delegates that had once supported her, that have already broken from her to endorse Obama already. So when the roll call comes up next week, she won't actually have 1,900 delegates/Super Delegates combined. She'll be lucky to top 1,500 on the floor.

Weather you know it or not, you're making the false asumptions that the democratic party is lead by fools. They would be fools to nominate Hillary. Hillary would be a fool to accept the nomination.

Tell me, if Hillary was elected would she win? She would definately NOT win. She would rather see a democrat in the office than a republican. Not really sure how you could argue that, but try to come up with a situation where Hillary could win.

I certainly agree that Hillary is not a fool. But Bill can be, at times.

His behavior in recent months has often been petulant and foolish - and entertaining. He eats up the camera, and he is impossible to ignore. He mugs and grins and chews up the furniture: anything to get attention.

W.C. Fields complained that dogs and child stars were scene stealers. If Fields were alive today, he would never appear with Bill. Bill Clinton is the biggest scene stealer currently alive in the world.

Re: Congresswoman says half house may vote for Hillary!

While the cynic in me wouldn't put anything past the Clintons, rationally such a move would doom Hillary's future presidential prospects should it fail. Furthermore, were it to succeed, it would alienate, if not enrage black voters; a key constituency of the Democratic Party. Can't you see Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton leading the protest march the following morning?

If McCain had yet to announce his vice presidential pick, it would then give him the opportunity to select a black running mate to appeal to this disgruntled and newly inflamed segment of the electorate; perhaps a J.C. Watts or a Michael Steele.

And that's not even mentioning the impact it would have on race relations for years to come.

Though the Republicans and the media would no doubt love for something so dramatic and unexpected to happen, it would literally tear the Democratic Party apart. So, no, I really don't foresee something like that happening; though I'm sure there are several in the Clinton camp that have seriously considered and promoted just such a coup.

Nonetheless, were I with the Obama campaign, I’d still keep those Superdelegates close to the vest, well-fed and happy.

Agree. It would be nice to see the Dems voting their conscience but they really don't have the courage for that.

Yes, I definately agree with you. Dems would be voting their conscience by handing over the election to the republicans .

how ugly can it get at the convention if some do go with clinton?
You're going to be kicking yourself for wasting time if you tune into the Democratic Convention coverage in anticipation of witnessing unabated chaos and distress.

Well, partially so.

Inside the convention, in the official proceedings, you're very probably correct.

Outside, where the "Re-Create '68" protesters will likely be joined by every anarchist idiot with an interest in breaking something (think WTO / IMF protests), it's likely to be interesting.

That reminds me of the Kaiser Cheifs song.."I Predict a Riot"...

I don't know..... I think most of the time that protests are expected they turn out to be relatively tame/lame. Generally when protests do get out of control, they came about unexpectedly.

Surely there will be some protests and I'm sure they will be exaggerated by those who would like to see trouble and downplayed by those that don't.
