Congresswoman says half house may vote for Hillary!

Rep.: Half of House Dems may vote Hillary at DNC - Amie Parnes and Ben Smith - Politico.com

dont know how many threads are on this already , but I wonder if this is talk or true

how ugly can it get at the convention if some do go with clinton?

It's all cheap talk, since many delegates including in the New York delegation have said that now that they endorse Obama, they will stick with Obama at the convention.

So it's actually predicted that although Obama took 2,200 delegates and Clinton is at 1,900, what we'll actually see is that she'll have less than that with all the delegates and Super Delegates who have already switched to Obama not going back to vote for her.

This is a non-story. And the media covering it will explain this to us next week, when her roll call comes in with a few hundred or so less delegates than what she actually achieved.

This is about recognizing the historic nature of their primary. Bill and Hillary and others on their side have already said they plan to vote for Obama in the roll call. What Hillary has planned is to take the stage, acknowledge all her delegates, and then give them over to the Obama camp as a symbol of endorsement and unity.

Nuff said.

Agree.

It would be fun to watch though.

Very fun to watch.

I at least want both candidates to hold back on mentioning their VP's til the conventions, since the conventions are just parties now.

Its getting pretty ugly alright....Denver has secret jails?

Quote:
DENVER - Activist groups say the converted warehouse poses a threat to civil liberties. The city maintains the facility is needed in case of mass arrests during the Democratic National Convention.

"The public was never going to view this place, it was just found out," Spagnuolo said. "They got caught with this place. They told our lawyers in negotiations that this place didn't even exist."The makeshift holding center, dubbed "Gitmo on the Platte" by activists, is located on city-owned property near Steele Street and 38th Avenue. Newly-installed security cameras guard the exterior, chain-link fences and barbed wire form cells inside.

"We feel the city should be ashamed of this secret prison they've set up," said Re-create '68 organizer Glenn Spagnuolo.

Spagnuolo and other activists gathered outside the formerly-secret facility on Friday to protest the city's plan to use it as a processing center for all those arrested outside the DNC.

"The public was never going to view this place, it was just found out," Spagnuolo said. "They got caught with this place. They told our lawyers in negotiations that this place didn't even exist."

"This was never a secret site," said Undersheriff Bill Lovingier, the city's director of corrections.

Lovingier said the city had long planned to build a new holding facility for the DNC, which triples the processing speed of the city jail. Lovingier said the Steele Street warehouse will be able to process 60 arrestees an hour.

"This center is designed as an arrest processing site," Lovinger said. "There will be no housing or long-term detentions."

Activists said that claim was doubtful.

"What's going to happen here is police are going to detain people for an inordinate amount of time," said Unconventional Denver organizer Ben Yager. "They're going to use this as an excuse to keep people out of the courts and off of the streets."

Protest groups questioned whether the makeshift facility would be suitable for inhabitation after years as a storage facility.

Lovinger said air-conditioning has been installed and the Denver Fire Department has certified it meets fire codes.

"We've provided for restroom facilities, water, medical assistance," Lovingier said. "We tried to mirror in this facility what we do every day in our city jail."

WTF?

I knew there was some Hillary supporters were going to protest but does the city really believe they are going to arrest THAT many people they must have extra jail space?

If there were just 1/2 an inkling that Hillary would pull a surprise out of her ass at the convention, I'd watch it! Hell, I'd record it!

I would do that for the same reason if there was a 1% chance. The truth is it will never happen.

Re: Congresswoman says half house may vote for Hillary!

Why doesn't anyone remember their history. Jesse Jackson got a floor vote, Ted Kennedy got a floor vote. ALL the losing candidates get a floor vote and their delegates are heard. It's just what happens. Clinton will get her floor vote which she deserves and earned and the Democrats will move forward. This is what is so stupid about this election, they act like because Obama is new and that thre is history involved than EVERYTHING is new and unprecedented. It's like these polls that show McCain winning among white voters. White voters ALWAYS back Republicans at higher rates than they back Demcorats. Obama is polling better among white voters than John Kerry did against Bush in 2004 in EVERY SINGLE STATE. Its just ridiculous.

And now he tells us that he’s the one who’s gonna take on the old boys' network,” he said. “In the McCain campaign that’s called a staff meeting!- Obama, 9/17/2008

Ahhhh... If you only knew what I have been up to with my dungeons!

Don't count Hillary out yet. Obama thinks it's clear sailing to the nomination, but Hillary could (and would) do a Bobbit on him. To watch the nomination get yanked during the convention would be the video of the century. As little political experience Obama has, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see him get blindsided by Clinton.

What pisses me off is that my weekend falls on two of those days, and I may very liokely be called in to help with idiots on the protest. Well, guaranteed, you won't see me bashing anyone, even if they need it. I'm way too close to another, and hopefully final, retirement.

Re: Congresswoman says half house may vote for Hillary!

Hillary said herself she will NOT be the one to divide the democratic party. I take that as she won't intentionally divide the party, and I believe her. I mean she knows there will no chance come election day that she could ever become president. No way. Party would be too divided, no republicans would vote for her, and she won't be the one that does that.
