About the same as wearing a flag-pin on your jacket qualifies one to be one.

It's tough when you are out there fighting to portray your opponent as an elitist, and someone asks you a gotcha question like "How many houses do you own?"
And you can't remember............and you need your staff to count them up for you....................

I'll bet when the debates roll around, he writes down the number in his palm......
McCain isn't trying to portray Obama as an elitist...even though being an elitist doesn't mean you don't know how many houses you own. Being an elitist is thinking you're better then everyone else.

McCain mostly points out how inexperienced Obama is and how poor his judgment is......this silly topic doesn't change that.

Its only funny if you are trying not to portray yourself as an elitist. Ive never seen McCain have any issue with people being rich. In fact in the forum last week he specifically said he wanted everyone to be rich, and thus to lose count of how many houses they have. What McCain gets at, and goes right an interesting point, is that Obama is an elitist, and yet criticizes others for being rich, and claims to represent the working class. He is anything but the people he wants to represent, his core voters.

Stupid response by McCain though. Should have just said, a lot.

Meaning, Obamas response is "were both elitists?" Id love to see Obama admit that. It would make McCains day. McCain doesnt deny hes rich, or have any problem with being rich. So, the hypocrasy only goes one way.

Therefore, I have no complaints if Obama's campaign uses this in an ad. This is fair game in my eyes. Set it against the backdrop of the rising forclosure numbers and go with it!
Fair game and utterly pitiful.

Too bad McCain doesn't keep up with all of his properties. It must be hard to keep track of or remember the exact number. I'm not rich and sometimes it slips my mind.

Now if we can just get Obama to remember which stance he took on issues he spoke about in the past. That would be a miracle.

"..uh.. Mr President?"

"How many regiments did we send to Iran?"

"How many trillions in debt are we now?"

"How many nuclear missiles did we just launch by mistake?"

And other utterly insignificant questions.

We don't need a regular guy as President. We need a realist.

Kinda like the notion that wearing an American flag-pin on one's jacket makes one ultra-patriotic and therefore best qualified for office huh?

After all, McCain isn't the elitist that claims he stands up for the poor.

No, but since Obama at first refused to wear one........I think that is a definite indication of his patriotism...or the lack of.

Also that fact that his refusal was hurting him and now he wears one in public whenever possible.....shows he's a hypocrit.

In other words, you would criticize him no matter what he did, right?

Are you really that DENSE MW?

Have you ever heard the statement, "You cannot reason with unreason?"

The unreason in this case is the public's false premise of patriotism based on the wearing of the flag-pin. The premise that was pushed by the consertives and the right-wing media.

How's he a hypocrit? He already said that he doesn't believe that wearing a flag-pin indicates more patriotism or less patriotism. He NEVER said he doesn't believe in wearing flag-pins.

Dude...keep this up and I'll peg you as a real dunce for good.

Seriously.

I suppose you're going to call me a racist as well.

No. I think if he would stop lying and tell us what he really stands for I would give him some credit.

But then if everyone found out what he plans on doing, what he really stands for he wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell of getting elected.

A realist who thinks there's such a thing as Czechoslovakia or an Iraq/Pakistan border.
