But Michael Moore is very famous, very wealthy and a solid, respected pillar of the left-wing establishment. He is feted at the academy awards and the toast of European film festivals, pampered and swooned over by a ga-ga media.

His crudely made, narrow-minded propaganda films are treated as art by those dazzled by his trendy anti-American venom. Despite his Joe Sixpack shtick, he is a very wealthy celebrity.

His display of hatred and contempt will not be acknowledged by a media that has transformed him into a left-wing Robin Hood character. They would have to admit how wrong they have been: and that will never happen.

That was a rather tactless statement, no matter how rhetorical he was trying to be. He was just talking about how the coincidence of it hitting on the day the RNC starts is somehow 'proof that god exists'. He did say he hopes that nobody gets hurt, but yeah, pretty dumb statement regardless.

It's true, the Republicans have been beating the shit out of the Democrats, especially since Clinton left office.

I think the primary reason is that they are less clear as to whose interests they are serving and end up alienating a significant part of their base. Really speaking, about the only good reason to vote for Dems is to keep out the Repubs. They do a half-assed job on every issue they claim to support, from the environment to jobs in America. They're pathetic.

Oh come on... the problem with the republicans is that they won't fight back! Day after day, it's Kennedy, Clinton, Reid, Pelosi, Clinton, or any one of dozens of loudmouthed, lying partisan hacks in DC badmouthing Bush, Cheney, or the republican party in general. I wish the republicans would throw a little shit at the dems.

I'm talking about in terms of winning elections. And yes, the Dems did manage a minor comeback in the last midterm, but when you consider the extent to which Republican policies have failed, what stands out is how small the Democratic gains were. Obviously, the people have very little confidence in either party, and rightly so.

Funny you say that. I have heard Dems saying the same thing. It makes me think that maybe both parties have an equal opportunity of having heartless, mean, blowhard, assclowns as members.

Personally, I'd be willing to give parliamentary democracy a try. At least we wouldn't be stuck with a loser for 4 long years, as we are now.

Proportional representation, however, might be the better way to go, especially as it lends itself to having more than just 2 parties.
