NJ and Virginia Republican wins

well thats that. They called with 80% reporting in and Christie at 49% to 45% and a 100k lead.

Defeating a deep blue state like NJ whom elected by 15 points Obama over McCain, well there it is. Was it a vote ON Obama? I’d say no not personally, but if folks felt better about their economic situation, if health care wasn’t such a financial twist on top of the stimulus etc. I think the margin would have been dead even or even left Corzine as the winner. Obama doesn’t appear to have coattails.

Indies appear to have went for Chrisitie 58% to 31%. Very worrisome.

I think one thing is definitely true; minds are getting very busy among the blue dogs and Senators from purple or split states.

In Virginia, it was down right ugly. The numbers tell the tale.

The NY 23rd- it appears that’s a spread out district geographically and some counties and townships have said they will not report their results till morning.

Re: NJ and Virginia Republican wins

The 5% that voted for Dede need to be smacked up side the head.

Republican sweep in New Jersey & Virginia!

The first shot across the bough was taken tonight & it went right over the U.S. democrat controlled congress, The U.S democrat controlled senate & of course the democrat controlled White House.

President Obama has lost his charm with the voters of New Jersey. He was out there 5 times including most of this weekend trying to drag Governor Corzine over the finish line. New Jersey is obviously very bad news for democrats in 2010. New Jersey being the bluest of blue states has just done a 180 degree turn to conservatism. Independents in this state overwhelmingly voted for Governor elect Criss Christie.

Virginia--voted for Obama overwhemling by 15 points. Republican McDonnell just gave Gov. Deeds a 20 point thrashing & a pink slip. Meaning what went to democrats in 2008 for a 15 point advantage just went back to Republicans for a 25 advantage. Huge change.

The Tsunami has started on the east coast-& it is going to continue to roll through this country through 2010-in which liberal democrats have no shot what-so-ever of retaining their seats.

I doubt that President Obama & Nancy Pelosi will be making fun of tea partiers anymore. This country is mad as hell & even democrats who voted for them are not going to take it anymore. Tonight was overwhelming evidence of that.

I wasn't figuring NJ. Sure, they got an idiot for a governor, but the reelected Biden how many times?

looks like prezbo's late barn storming made a razor close race not so close.

oh my...

and I'm sure its a coincidence that Reid had to put Senate plans for insurance reform on hold today

I don't think Hoffman is going to make it. If he looses--it's the Republican party of his district that supported a female liberal democrat with an R behind her name (Dede Scoffiaza)--who is to blame for Hoffman's loss.

I would like Hoffman to win--but my preference would have been Owens if it was a race between Dede & him. At least we know where democrat Owens comes from versus a liberal democrat wearing republican clothes.

Even if we lose NY-23, we just scared the pant off the 14 democrat House members with decisive governorship wins.

It would appear that half of Dede's backers went for Owens, and half still voted for Dede. Even so, a complete unknown who quite frankly comes off as rather goofy got 45% of the vote from a major party based solely on an idea. Had there been a proper primary and general, there would have been a different result.

AGREED. The RNC threw 900K at Dede's campaign--she drops out & throws her support to the democrat. Unbelievable. However, it's really amazing that Hoffman got that CLOSE. Basically an unknown & you're right kind of goofy--certainly not a polished politician. To add--Dede was picked at a pizza party--not a primary.

At any rate I doubt the Republican party will not make the same mistake twice--they ticked off their republican base.

Again, I would prefer a democrat Owens over a liberal female democrat that has an R behind her name. At least we know where Owens is coming from--LOL.

One thing for certain Owen's has got to be a blue dog democrat-because of the conservative nature of this district &-probably more conservative than Dede was.
