Ron Paul, although he is opposed to government run healthcare or healthinsurance said if we were going to have nationalized health insurance we could pay for it through reduction in our overseas military expenditures.

In other words, you can be opposed to it, but also make suggestions for how it can be done right (or how to finance it) if its going to happen anyway.

That's pretty much my position. I don't think we should be a nanny state, but if we're going to do it, lets at least do it in a way that isn't totally screwed up making it worse for everyone.

They tried this after the telecom immunity betrayal. Not a single dem politician who sold out their constituents lost their seat. I don't expect any will this time either.

Now I'll tell you what I do see. I see you attacking any and all posters that comment from either a conservative or libertarian viewpoint. I don't see you doing the same for the liberal posters.

Lastly, the only thing you've ever been libertarian about is when it coincides with the Left. I'm sorry, son, but that don't make you a "little l" libertarian.

End of story. There is no need for you to respond to this because I will not be wasting anymore of my time discussing it with you. You've been outed. Now move along. There is nothing to see here.

Technically correct, though it does say one can be libertarian and be "for or against" government health care. Being in favor of government run health care doesn't seem to be consistent with libertarian philosophy, but then again I understand libertarian philosophy in the minarchist sense, so I could be wrong on this one... And it is true that one could be primarily a libertarian and disagree with certain tenets.

I don't see anything that would say you're not a libertarian in this thread so far, though.

Well thanks right kindly.

What I was getting at is that if one adheres to the philosophy of libertarianism, one could theoretically accept gov't run health care, depending on it's infringement on rights and/or property and to which degree, just as easily as one could be against it.

OTOH, if one is a Libertarian, a member of the actual party, as I once was for many years (I still have my membership cards and am still proud to have voted for the late, great and inimitable Harry Browne), there is no way one could possibly ever support it.

Yeh, but it's a whole year till 2010, and they have all this money now.

This is like in 2008. I knew Obama was going to win when he had twice the money of the Rebooblicans. Money talks and the Rebooblicans are gonna walk in 2010, just like they did in 2008

He's attacked me, and I'm unabashedly liberal, so he does attack them. No, I don't remember when or where but I do remember he did it because it surprised me so. You are correct he doesn't seem to attack liberals much but that may be illustrative of the well known fact that reality has a liberal bias or, it might just be there's not that many of us here to attack.

Most of the guys on here who claim to be libertarian are really hard shell conservatives, but then so are most libertarians generally, including Ron Paul. We have, I think, one real libertarian on this board (it's NOT Tannis IMO, sorry or maybe that's good) and considering I think he's also our most gaping asshole I will say no further on the matter.
