What are the alternative interpretations of what Mathews said? Just curious...

I know what he meant. It doesn't make the comment any less callous. Obama is Commander in Chief of the military. It's preposterous to refer to a military academy as enemy territory for the President and it's an insult to the intelligence and service of the cadets who attend there.

As much as I think Matthews is an idiot, I agree with Scout - he meant a rough audience...poor choice of words, but not how it sounds literally.

You are the one person in this world who will live according to the choices you make. Live life like there is a tomorrow.

No. What's preposterous is to make this seem like a nefarious commentary by Mathews.....and what would be an insult to the intelligence and service of the cadets in attendance is to assume that they would be offended by the comment.

Chris Matthews is Chris Matthews........I wouldn't expect anything other than this type of commenting/reporting. He has O-jizz on his chin.
Take a good hard look, it's coming.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. He meant that the audience wouldn't be packed with ACORN and SEIU stooges. Of course, when they go on active duty, they will follow the orders from the Commander and Chief and those under him but when it was suggested that the cadets be enthusiastic they didn't measure up to ACORN or SEIU standards.

Nobody is making it seem like a nefarious commentary by Matthews. It is a nefarious commentary by Matthews. As if somehow the cadets at West Point wouldn't give the President the respect of his position as CIC despite what their political views might be.

I'm glad he did, and it ought to be accepted and considered settled. His only misstep here was a poorly selected metaphor of something conceptually different and had no literal intent. To make more of it for spin purposes would be an intentionally plotted manipulation of the cadets which isn't anywhere near as excusable than a poor phrasing.

They can follow his orders (and give him respect) and still be unsupporting as an audience. I figured all this comment means is that they won't be as enthusiastic and positive an audience as some other places the 0 has visited. Something like: they won't suck his dick (metaphorically) or anything, that's all.

Oh.... I see.... Matthews makes a comment like this and it is just taken out of context. He apologized and that makes everything ok.

A conservative speaks the truth about this assclown of a president and they need to be silenced.

Fuck liberals. And fuck Crissy Matthews.

I take him at his word, anyway. The US military is an enemy camp to progressives like Matthews and by extension Barack Obama who is as far to the left or farther than Matthews.

Are you getting dizzy from all that spinning?
