Teachers lie to kids all the time and spend a lot of time on indoctrination. I went to grade school in the people's republic of Massachusetts and there is plenty of effort spent on indoctrination there in support of the two party system as long as you supported the correct party (hint hint... it begins with a D), pro-union education and so on. But it's nothing new, public schools have always been indoctrination centers.
Sure, but that doesn't mean they can indoctrinate the children in those beliefs. Sorry blow the lid on your conflation of two separate things.
The GOP hasn't been saying those things. They've only said that the teacher's unions costs the school districts more money and also keeps the schools from firing bad teachers. I've had some pretty bad teachers back in my time. The GOP has been calling teachers overpaid, lazy good for nothings, for quite a while, so I understand why teachers (college educated, most with advanced degrees) are mostly Democrats.
This teacher was trying to teach real world politics, I can also understand why right wingers (less educated, less informed, lower intelligence) don't understand this.

How are you going to teach "Opposition research" without real world examples?
So the GOP is only against the union (which is made up of teachers), because there are too many bad teachers who can't be fired. The GOP hasn't been saying those things. They've only said that the teacher's unions costs the school districts more money and also keeps the schools from firing bad teachers. I've had some pretty bad teachers back in my time.
And the reason the GOP thinks the unions cost the districts too much money is that they believe the teachers are overcompensated.
Opposition research isn't about positions, it's about candidates, you have to do the research on candidates, and why do you think assigning people who the students were largely unfamiliar with has more pedagogical value than assigning them to do opposition research on Barack Obama, just what do you think middle schoolers would discover that the GOP has missed?
And the assignment isn't to teach them about how bad the GOP is, it's to teach them about the process and the product of opposition research, they won't vote for another 5 or 6 years, but they will understand the bullshit they see, how it's produced and how valid it is.
They are being taught how to think, not what to think.
Opposition to what?
No, you don't get it. The unions themselves cost money. Why do you think Wisconsin has been able to hire more teachers w/o reducing salary? So the GOP is only against the union (which is made up of teachers), because there are too many bad teachers who can't be fired.
And the reason the GOP thinks the unions cost the districts too much money is that they believe the teachers are overcompensated.
