Bill Clinton Gets Father of the Year Award?

Do you think in our great American society we can't find a worthier individual of such an award other than a lying, cheating, perverted, perjury committing, self indulgent politician? Give me 5 minutes I could compile a list of dozens more suitable for such an award then this disgraceful individual. Good grief, what is the world coming to?

Bill Clinton named 'Father of the Year' - POLITICO.com

Probably would have helped if I had posted the link. I did forget that.

    No worries, it happens.

Seeing as you're from Arkansas i figured it had to have been some local news or something that didn't hit the airwaves the rest of the planet.

Re: Bill Clinton Gets Father of the Year Award?

The National Father's Day Council website notes that
Since 1999, The American Diabetes Association has partnered with the National Father's Day Council to host the Father of the Year Awards dinner. Each year we recognize numerous men from across the nation for the outstanding strength, commitment and love they exhibit as fathers.
It is, then, curious that they elected Clinton (amongst many others) for this award citing his “profound generosity, leadership and tireless dedication to both his public office and many philanthropic organizations" which doesn't appear to have any clear connection to the "outstanding strength, commitment, and love they exhibit as fathers."

Also, Chelsea has been out of the house, on here own, for quite a while so just what has Clinton done as a father that meets this standard?

<shrug>Probably as meaningless a gesture as Obama getting a Nobel Peace Prize for being a guy...

Much ado about nothing, there is little to get all that upset about. In this case "Father of the Year" has nothing do to with being a parent or a good spouse anyway.

Re: Bill Clinton Gets Father of the Year Award?

It just irritates me to no end to see all these politicians patting themselves on the back for a job well done, and so many people waiting in line to tell them how great they are and patronizing them with awards and honors, in my opinion, or un-deserving. Ranks up there with one of my pet peeves of hearing news anchors refer to new politicians as rockstars. That has to be one of the ones that will make me change the channel the fastest!

For the most part I agree, you can even add in Nobel Peace Prize as well. It is just that in this case, hard to get all that upset about it. It is a manufactured award by a group for a self serving reason, perhaps I've just become too desensitized to what politicians are willing to do to reward themselves.

Ahh yes. Very true. But also notice that the vast majority of the media accolades are going to Democrats, eh? Some media we have here. <sarcasm>

My vote would have went to Rick Santorium. From what I saw of him on the primary trail, he is a great father and deserves such an award. I may not agree with his politics but I percieve him as being a notable father. I highly value good fathers.

My vote, would have went to a man out there, who works his butt off to support his family for no recognition and never complains. The man who still values the vows he agreed to uphold when he married his wife, the man who never misses their kids baseball practice, or band practice. The man who stays involved with his family and makes sure they never do without even if they can't afford to have it all. Its the unsung heroes that are more deserving of a father of the year or a mother of the year award that go unrecognized, while we perceive blow hard politicians as being better than the common man and woman who do more in a days work than these folks have there whole life.

I know a number of fathers like this. They don't get enough recognition.

Of course this guy doesn't deserve consideration for this sort of thing. A new low in mass media and American culture.

Can you imagine that some are saying that this is acceptable behavior? Unbelivable.

And this crap conditions people, changes society overtime. We really are what we eat, no way around it.

Well said. Especially the way he took care of Bella, and threw politics to one side and made sure of the things in life that are actually important.

I think he deserves the "Best Use for a Cigar" of the year award.
