Tells me and shows me the true character of the Jewish people and the suffering they have endured for many years? This man was far above his own life wants and typical ME,ME, ME, that we see Today from wimps and spoiled brats!

I salute him and I can see why the Israeli's will never suffer defeat, as they have a strength and character to strong for their fanatic enemies!

You didn't just turn this into an Israel vs. Palestine thing, did you?

What if the guy had been German? French? Would you have come to the same conclusion?

I agree it was a noble and heroic thing to do... but to credit it to whichever ethnic origin he might have, or come from, seems silly.

Judging by his name he was Romanian. A Romanian Jew teaching in an American university. And a very, very courageous man indeed.

I think he should get credit, but only for himself. Why turn this into a Jewish trait?
Doesn't his sacrifice deserve more credit than a broad application to simply being Jewish?

I agree with you on both points - the man exhibited a selfless bravery (which as you say is all too rare these days, thanks to our "metrosexual" leftists who make up the bulk of college professors these days) AND the Israeli people exhibit a remarkable strength of character compared to many other nationalities.

I haven't been around in a few weeks, but I have to add; as a boy, he was sent to a town in Russia, and hidden from the Nazis by the townspeople there.
By saving him, they couldn't have known that they were also saving a room full of college students halfway across the globe, in the next century.
And none of us know who else one or more of those kids may go on to save, or help.

As it was more eloquently put by a friend of mine:
