Re: 65 million $'s for a pair of pants?

From the courtroom Pearsons tearful testimony

Judge Who Seeks Millions for Lost Pants Has His (Emotional) Day in Court

Quote:
One of Fancy Pants Pearson's witnesses testified, comparing the Mom and Pop dry cleaner to Nazi Germany:

"At 89, I'm not ready to be chased," she said. "But I was in World War II as a WAC, so I think I can take care of myself. Having lived in Germany and knowing the people who were victims of the Nazis, I thought he was going to beat me up. I thought of what Hitler had done to thousands of Jews."

Pearson paused. He struggled to breathe deeply. He could not continue. Pearson blurted a request for a break, stood up, turned around and walked out of the courtroom, tears dripping from his full and reddened eyes.
Oh sweet heavens!!!! I mean murderers and rapists walk free every day and don t even get brought to court and this time waster Pearson gets away with it???? Put Pearson in jail!!!

Another classic moment
Quote:
. . but as he came to the part about when Soo Chung finally told him she had found the missing pants, the tale of the $10.50 alteration that went awry proved to be too much.

“These are not my pants,” Pearson recalled telling Chung when she handed him a pair of gray pants with cuffs. “I have in my adult life, with one exception, never worn pants with cuffs.”

“And she said, ‘These are your pants.’ ”

Pearson paused. He struggled to breathe deeply. He could not continue. Pearson blurted a request for a break, stood up, turned around and walked out of the courtroom, tears dripping from his full and reddened eyes.

The trial is expected to end today. Pearson, who is representing himself
Whats very sad is that these hard working immigrants are probably wishing they never realised their American Dream.

Quote:
WASHINGTON - The Chungs, immigrants from South Korea, realized their American dream when they opened their dry-cleaning business seven years ago in the nation's capital.

For the past two years, however, they've been dealing with the nightmare of litigation: a $65 million lawsuit over a pair of missing pants.

Jin Nam Chung, Ki Chung and their son, Soo Chung, are so disheartened that they're considering moving back to Seoul, said their attorney, Chris Manning, who spoke on their behalf.

"They're out a lot of money, but more importantly, incredibly disenchanted with the system," Manning said. "This has destroyed their lives."
Judge sues for $65 million over pants | Vote - Peculiar Postings - MSNBC.com

All this over over a pair of trousers (In UK and Ireland pants means your underwear so there were even more laughs whan this came out over here)

Thanks God justice prevailed and rightly ruled in the dry cleaners favour.

For those who didn't hear the good news, the judge who filed this lawsuit was not re-appointed to his position. Judge in pants lawsuit sues to get job back - CNN.com

He's now suing over that.

Damn, I was hoping you'd say "I'm sure that'll pants out nicely for him..." as a tribute to British humor.

I have to say, how did such a moron ever become a judge in the first place? Oh well, at least they got rid of him, that's something.
