How the hell did this one even get allowed into a courtroom? Am I the only one finding this ridiculous?

LOL, I saw this and couldn't stop laughing at him. Talk about abusing the system. But hey, it is the strict interpretation of the law.

I really don't know whether to laugh or cry about this. It's sad to see a lawsuit like this actually going ahead in the judicial system. It should have been thrown out from the beginning and the plaintiff should have had a severe beating... or at least, a little lesson on morality.

Maybe that's the reason... wifey decided to cut him off from certain marital services, so he has a lot of build up frustration

I wonder if it isn't about power. People feel so powerless about so many things these days that when they get a chance to hit back--at ANYBODY--they just go crazy. I can't see how this is about money or winning, by this time they have no money left, it's about vengeance, expressing anger and frustration at whoever is weak enough not to be able to hit back. I suspect that much criminal stupidity is based on frustration and the feeling of helplessness/hopelessness. Look at suicide bombers--people hardly ever blow themselves up to kill others unless they are so desperate that they simply don't see any other way to strike out at the ones they perceive as being in control of their lives.

It's idiotic, for less than $65 million they can hire a hitman to bump the guy off.

Just another example of: “Appointed positions” need to be drug tested on a regular basis.

If justice is done, he will lose his job as a judge and the lawsuit will be dropped and the dry cleaners will get a refund for all the money they've spent on lawyers.

Re: 65 million $'s for a pair of pants?

Quote:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A District of Columbia judge on Monday lost his $54 million lawsuit against a dry-cleaning shop that misplaced his pants.

Roy L. Pearson, an administrative law judge in the U.S. capital, claimed that Custom Cleaners violated a consumer protection law because it posted a "satisfaction guaranteed" sign but did not pay him more than $1,000 after his pants got lost.

But the judge hearing the case, Judith Bartnoff, ruled that Pearson had failed to show that the Korean immigrant family named as defendants had violated that law.

The two-day trial drew international media coverage and widespread ridicule as an example of over-litigiousness in the United States.

Pearson was not immediately available for comment.

http://www.reuters.com/article/domes...28824020070625
CNN's broadcast news also said the plaintiff was ordered to pay the cleaners' legal expenses.

Now, if we can just work in a flogging for the plaintiff, justice will have been served.

Matt
