How exactly were the cops to know the nature of the crime these guys committed? They can't read minds. They could have kidnapped your kid or just left the scene of multiple murders. There is no way of knowing what the guy flying down the road at 100+ MPH did, and if the cop does not give chase for fear of creating a dangerous road condition for the perp and it DOES wind up he/she committed a violent crime, who gets blamed then?
