Of course there was no excuse for that. I don't see anyone remotely suggesting there was.
That's because the State I was raised in has no death penalty, Matt. We gotta have some way of dealing with assholes like that. And we don't beat and stomp people to death for simple battery either. That just gets your ass kicked. But you can be beaten and stomped to death for being an asshole like that. It would be her disrespect and attitude, not her physical actions, that could result in that.

"Disrespect and attitude" merit death, huh?

Wow.

Only when it's as despicable as that, especially coming from someone that should know better and is in a position of power, yes. We don't have a whole lot of patience for bullshit like that up there.

Re: Quadriplegic dumped from chair

Wow. Just amazing.

Just to be clear - you advocate this killing for "Disrespect and attitude", do you? You'd advocate the death penalty (formal or informal) for this deputy who committed a simple battery?

Someone can still be classified as quadriplegic if they simply have limited mobility or partial paralysis in their four limbs.

Did you not watch the video???? What is there to be skeptic about? The man was mercilessly dumped on the floor of the police station! And yes, the man is considered a quadriplegic.

I believe the officer can be charged with a felony because her victim was handicapped but I don't think the death penalty is warranted!

I wasn't advocating it, Matt! Damn, you sure do go off the deep end making wild and absurd extrapolations about what people write. I was just trying to convey the depth of disgust most folks in that part of the country feel towards assholes like her. But I reckon that realization just whizzed right by you. But, we both know things do tend to move a little slower in the South in general, don't we?

Sometimes, Matt, sometimes......

Re: Quadriplegic dumped from chair

Apparently, you are confused about what a "?" (that's a question mark, BTW) means.

I was asking you IF you advocated it. I was not concluding that you DID advocate it, but rather I was not clear from your posts whether you supported the actions you claim would have happened where you grew up.

But hey, don't pass up a chance to fly off the handle and wig out....

Not for a hit and run or jaywalking, I'll bet.

Re: Quadriplegic dumped from chair

The deputy who assaulted him has been charged with a felony.

Quote:
TAMPA - A veteran detention deputy videotaped dumping a paralyzed inmate from his wheelchair onto a jail floor will be arrested as a result of her actions, authorities said late Friday.

Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee said an arrest warrant for Charlette Marshall-Jones, 44, had been issued for a single count of felony abuse on a disabled person.

"That's exactly the charge we've been requesting," said John Trevena, a Largo attorney representing the paralyzed man.

The incident gained national prominence after a surveillance video surfaced this week of Marshall-Jones tipping Brian Sterner from his wheelchair during booking at Tampa's Orient Road Jail.

Gee called it a "disgrace" Friday night.

Three jail supervisors remain on suspension for failing to act during or after the incident. Sgt. Gary Hinson, 51, Cpl. Steven Dickey, 45 and Cpl. Decondra Williams, 36 will remain on administrative leave until an investigation of their actions is concluded, Gee said.

He said Marshall-Jones is aware of the warrant for her arrest but has not yet turned herself in. If convicted, she could face up to five years in prison.

She could not be reached for comment Friday night. A telephone number listed in her name has been disconnected, and Gee said his agency did not know her whereabouts Friday night. It was not clear if she had an attorney.

Sterner, 32, was arrested Jan. 29 on a warrant for a traffic violation. He has said that Marshall-Jones grew agitated when she told him to stand up and he didn't.

Sterner is paralyzed. He has partial movement in his arms but is unable to use his legs.

Trevena said he doubts he will have to file a civil suit because of Gee's swift response. "I don't think that'll be necessary," he said Friday night.

If they'd beat someone to death for dumping a handicapped person out of his wheelchair, what would they do to someone who dumped a handicapped person out of his wheelchair into a large body of water?
