Re: Texan 'hero' shoots and kills burglars at neighbours'

I don't see how we can villify or glorify this guy, since we have no idea what happened on that lawn. Apparently, he shot them in the back, so it seems likely they were trying to get away. Maybe they really approached him threateningly before realizing he was armed, or maybe he just wanted to kill some foreigners. Honestly, I'm not sure how two different sides can develop on an issue that none of us really know much about.

Has there been shot any burglars in Texas since the Horn case?

Yep - unfortunately, stupidity is both commonplace and terminal.

Yep, I also thought they might had tried to jump on him backwards to try to take his gun . You're right that we weren't there to see it, but from what I read and putting the pieces together I think it's quite clear what he did.

Pitty how irresponsible people like this guy are able to own guns. But it's even worst that he can get away with somethig like that...

Shot and killed folks who were burglars. That's what he did.

I don't know, call me silly, but it's just that I'm not used to punishing burglary with death, maybe if he had just cut off their right hand ...

Btw its not your preoragative to hand out the punishment, nor was it is, he wasn't "punishing" anyone, that's what the state hands out for a crime. He wasn't playing God or anything, he chose to defend himself, and his and his neighbor's property using lethal force.

I really don't get it either gato. But it's Texas, they've got some very tough laws.

We're gonna open it up for vehicular theft too so you can shoot to kill to defend your car. (While in it).

Re: Texan 'hero' shoots and kills burglars at neighbours'

This story kinda makes me a little sick. I really don't understand how the charges were dropped. He shot them in the back. In most other states, that would be proof enough that he was not acting in self defense.

The story also makes me think about the various times in my life when I've had to break in to my own house by crawling through a window or breaking down the door. What if some neighbor who didn't know or recognize me decided to "protect" himself by shooting me?
