People who like to think of themselves as conservatives generally don't like it pointed out when they espouse ideas that are socialist, nanny-statish, or "it-takes-a-village"-ish in nature. I can't help it if people's own cognitive dissonance gets their panties in a jumble.

Edit: It was also in response to a vacuous and insulting implication that supporting Obama is akin to wanting teenage girls to suffer. Seems to me that someone who would make such comments is already irrationally pissed off.
