Mom 'Thrilled' Over MySpace Indictment as Neighbor Prepares to Surrender
Lets try once more.
Mom 'Thrilled' Over MySpace Indictment as Neighbor Prepares to Surrender The mother of a teen who hanged herself after being spurned by a fake boy on MySpace is "thrilled" that a federal grand jury indicted her neighbor for her role in the creation of the profile. I would be too. It's about time. Isn't it ? "I'm thrilled," Tina Meier told FOX News on Friday. "She should have faced criminal charges from the very beginning, and unfortunately the state of Missouri did not have any laws that could convict Lori Drew." "I'm hopeful that Lori Drew will serve every day of 20 years in jail," Tina Meier told FOX News. "That's what she deserves, and that's what I hope she gets." She does deserve that 20 years. You can't get online and say and do anything you want to. It can be dangerous. To yourself and others. Some of us still need to learn that it seems. Re: Mom 'Thrilled' Over MySpace Indictment as Neighbor Prepares to Surrender
They ought to arrest the poor girl's parents if anything, for raising a child with such low self-esteem that getting rejected by a teenage boy on the Internet (fake or real) caused her to suicide. What teenager doesn't go through sexual/romantic rejection?
(Sigh.) Unfortunately, bad parenting isn't a criminal offense unless it crosses the line into overt cruelty or neglect. Too bad. |

This lady was supposed to be an adult and a parent herself. She should have known better than to bully a 13-year-old girl. What did she think would happen? She may not have known the girl would kill herself but it is not uncommon for teenagers to do irrational things.

Yes, she should've "known better" than to conduct herself in such a juvenile manner. Should she have known that the result of her actions would be that the girl would hang herself? Should she have known the girl would be "irrational" in response? I think that's a tremendous stretch... |

I think she is simply a bully and no I don't think she new for certain the girl would hang herself. However I think she had to know that nothing good was going to come from it. Why would you make a profile pretending to be a 16 year old boy make contact with a 13 year old girl, befriend her and then turn around a say the world would be better off without her. What could she possibly think would happen?

She should have known the response would be irrational and what ever it is she should be held accountable because she caused it.

Exactly.

And its a somewhat sad commentary on our society that we see here most of us blaming the victim and/or the victims PARENTS rather than the vicious busy body who decided to get involved in teenage disputes over the internet. What she did, was obviously a direct cause of what happened. What she really had no business DOING. She deserves whatever the court decides she deserves. With todays judges and courts there's no telling what that will be. She may get the 2008 humanitarian award. |

THis whole things is nuts..the media gets a verdict again.
The neighbor is an absolute bitch for sure, it is immature and downright mean for her to do this...but did it cause this girl to kill herself....no. |

Re: Mom 'Thrilled' Over MySpace Indictment as Neighbor Prepares to Surrender
I hope so. The girl was obviously unstable and had the parents that would facilitate anything. The woman who drove this girl into suicide probably prevented a Columbine.
