Re: Teens Turn 'Grand Theft Auto' Into Real-Life Robbery Spree

I am an angry man. And at times I find my rage boils over to a moment when I would like to burn the world down. Watching violent movies allows me to position myself in a definable moment. Robbing a bank. Committing a murder. Something I could then try to get away with. Playing violent video games then gives me a release. I have killed over one million NPCs in various Grand Theft Auto incarnations. Take away my video games, and I'll go on a murderous, bank robbing rampage. Take away my movies and I'll burn the world to the ground. It's up to you.

My sentiments exactly. It is a load of crap to blame a game for one's actions. When I was teenager I played Mortal Kombat series, Doom and a whole bunch of other violent video game as well as millions of other teenagers by yet we did not have millions of teenagers committing crimes inspired from the games we played. And I am pretty sure these teenagers are not the only ones playing GTA4,there are probably millions of other teens playing these games but yet they are not out committing armed robbery or any other crimes.
I have to agree. After playing Quake, Baldur's gate, and Thief, I feel little inclination to go out and do the same. Yet I know some adults who live here that don't need the video games (and they are my students).

Dare I flunk them?

Chocolate chip? A really soft one, right out of the oven with a cold glass of... NO! Shutup! I hate you! I hate this world! I can see now... all these years of psychological abuse. Damn Duck Hunt, that stupid dog always laughing at me. What else can I do? If I become a more efficient killer, I can move up the Counter Strike charts. Bots aren't good enough. Police Officers are. If only my parents had tried to love me as much as you have.

Could be that the officer or reporter is trying to create a story.

GTA has been out for years. For their to exist a valid sociological phenomenon of video games as a major source of violence than we should be witnessing thousands of such acts by now given the prevalence of these games on the market.

Yet we don't.....just like society saw no such thing with heavy metal music or any moral decline because of Elvis.
I'm not so sure about that.

Matter of fact, now that you bring that guy up, I think Elvis started this whole mess we find ourselves in.

Freakin' Elvis.

How would you go out and imitate Baldur's Gate? Find a half-elf of chaotic neutral alignment and cast some fire damage spells?
