It's obviously flawed since he can't refute it.

When I posted this, I didn't expect much disagreement. But then I get retarded reasoning like:

Again, if the aluminum bat is many times more likely to kill people, it shouldn't be used.

Once again, more powerful tools can change the environment more easily and more quickly. A table saw can go through a plank of wood faster than a handsaw. A table saw can also be more dangerous. Let me rephrase your statement with that item:

Again, if the table saw is many times more likely (than a handsaw) to kill people, it shouldn't be used.

Do you realize how retarded that line of reasoning is? Do you?

Re: Parents sue bat company, 12 retards award them $850,000

FFS! How is this thread so controversial and still going on? The parents shouldn't have received a single penny. The bat wasn't defective. The bat was used for its intended purpose. The case shouldn't have even made it to court, let alone the plaintiffs getting any money. This should have been thrown out, with minimal investigation.

Are you libs retarded? Do you know what bullshit lawsuits, like this, do to this country? It makes every single aspect of your daily lives more expensive. You pay for this bullshit. Hell, why do you think health care is so expensive, that you constantly bitch about, nonstop?

Based on this thread alone, I have scientifically determined that the baseball bat industry is entirely responsible for the political division in the United States today. We must declare war on bats, and the bat...men... hmm, odd how that worked out... who sell them!

I absolutely agree with you.

Seriously, it's the bat's fault.

Yes, the jury found that the bat was not defective, but that the family should still get hundreds of thousands of dollars because they did not properly warn the users of the bat of the fact that using a blunt object to hit a smaller blunt object may cause the smaller blunt object to fly in the other direction and damage a third blunt object.

Up next: dumbass sticks pencil in his nose, family sues pencil manufacturer for not attaching a warning to the pencil.

Yes, I'm sure the fact mentioned above completely escapes the people who play baseball. I hope the Patch family continues their great crusade and warns people of the dangers of walking into brick walls, sticking their dicks into meat grinders and stapling sheets of papers to their eyeballs.

Greedy, blackhearted fucks.
Obviously that was not a rigged jury. {/sarcasm}

John, your ignorance is showing. Learn what the meaning of the word "negligible" is, and then we can discuss this further.

How many pitchers have been killed by wood batted balls in the US in the same period? It's a grand total of none, I think, and we have more teams than the Japanese. There's your comparison. If 7 major leaguers had been killed by aluminum bats since 1974 the players would strike if aluminum was even brought on the field.
There have been numerous fatalities over the years by balls batted by wooden bats. The only meaningful comparison would be to compare deaths per swing, or deaths per at bat, between wood and aluminum bats. Considering the far higher number of aluminum bats in play in the U.S., I am sure that the difference is negligible.

To put it in terms that you may understand, let's say that there are roughly 10 million children per year that catch fireflies. There are approximately 1 million children per year that catch butterflies. Over a twenty year period, one child died after choking on a butterfly that he had captured. During that same time frame, two children died by choking on the fireflies which they had caught. In my analogy, your argument sounds something like this:

"FOR THE SAKE OF THE CHILDREN, WHY CAN'T YOU MONEY GRUBBING REPUBLICAN BASTARDS BAN FIREFLIES"!

If you can see how absurd the above sounds, we might be on the correct path to showing you how your emotional, illogical, tirade against aluminum bats is not a rational position to take.
