I can actually see that there may well have not been enough evidence to hook her up for murder. I'm perfectly willing to buy into the idea that Caylee's death was an accident. I do, however, have a whole lot of trouble reconciling the idea of trying to cover things up for a month with any form of humanity. This was her fucking daughter!!! You can't just sit on the death of one of your kids and try to hide it from everyone while maintaining the slightest shred of humanity.

I don't care what the jury says. This chick needs to be put away for life.

Just a slight correction to my post above, sentancing is on Thursday not Friday. He can technically throw her (well keep her) in jail for another year but even as tough on law and order as he is, i think common sense will dictate he should let her go, or maybe give her 9 month sectances to serve consectively so that#d make over 3 years and she can't seek damages for time she's been in without spending more time in.

I think we'll get a good read on what he's like as a person (Belvin Perry that is) when we see what he does with the outstanding contempt charges etc, if he's willing to let it go, i think it'll help everybody involved now just move on. Whilst a child is dead and there is no justice for her, and that is the State's utter blundering of this entire case, picking at the lawyers won't help any.

As for your comments about the evidence for a murder conviction i agree...it wasn't there. I thought she'd never get the guilty on that but i was sure they'd get her on one of the other 2 and then the push would be made for the felony murder law being cited as equating to the resulting crime leading to the death anyway and potentially bringing the DP back on to the table.

But yeah, a lot of folks must be wondering "wtf?!" right about now...

Yeah, it's all over Facebook right now..."wtf" everywhere. The sad thing is that she will get that book deal as Chas said and there'll be plenty of sick people who will buy it.

I dunno - she'd be real wise to keep her mouth shut as the Feds could come in and smack her with further charges. Double jeapordy laws only protect her from the same charges being brought upon her, not from a different entity with equal, lesser or greater jurisdiction also prosecuting her.

Plus there are the son of sam laws which forbid her from profitting off the whole affair, as she has been convicted of the lying to authorities charges.

I think Pam Bondi must be wondering what imbeciles she has working under her across the counties of FL - Orange county and PP has a black mark against it now. (And you could be sure the person taking the mike would be mentionning Independance Day to prop up our system as being the best in the world.) What else could they do having lost so much face?

LTV and Jeff Ashton have bungled this beyond belief.

I'm not sure if the law would prohibit her from profiting from the death since she wasn't found guilty. I sure wish it would though.

Its a difficult one, but as she was convicted on the grounds of lying to law enforcement and not obstruction of justice, in relation to that case, she may get away with it. But she really shouldn't - and somehow i don't think she will.

Ashton and Linda didn't even have the guts to take the mike - Linda actually wore shades and cowered away altogether, for the first time in her life. Their hands were tied with the indictments the grand jury handed down but why they didn't allow for lesser charges (negligable homocide, obstruction of Justice, tampering with a crime scene etc) and went for hail mary with the capital murder charge is beyond me.

Of course everybody is now doing the rounds to blame the media, the media is saying "well this is what makes our system so great" and round it goes.

I hear she's been writing to OJ while being held.

And that IS what makes our system great. This woman was not rich and everybody had convicted her already because it was possibly such a heinous crime, yet the evidence was not there, two of you admitted as much, yet one of was still slavering to kill SOMEBODY.

Better that a hundred guilty go free than one innocent be convicted is exactly reversed with you guys. You all remind me of Inspector Whatshisname in The Sign of Four, "....he arrested the brother, the housekeeper, the maid, I and Watson were lucky to escape ourselves."

I guess the jury thought that Caylee killed herself, then flung her own body out into a swamp in a laundry bag.

I'm not surprised the jury did not return murder 1, but no culpability in her death is amazing.

A couple of corrections......

1. It WAS a heinous crime. Whether she killed her daughter or not it was an absolute abomination that she tried to cover up the death.

2. I sure didn't see anyone in this thread "slavering to kill SOMEBODY."

Just how did she cause or contribute to the child's death?

Otherwise you're saying she should be either killed or put away for a long time for being afraid no one would believe the child had died by accident, which, in fact, none of you appear to DESPITE the fact that the JURY, apparently, did.

No, the jury most likely thought either

A) someone other than Casey did it.
B) if she did do it, the prosecution left reasonable doubt that she did.
