What's the worst book you've ever finished?
And why did you keep reading?
I'd have to go with Twilight. 400 pages of: Girl with no personality moves to small town for no reason. Becomes popular for no reason. Likes a guy for no reason, who vomits at the sight of her. Falls magically in love because she wants to do him. He loves her because he can smell her from out of state. They share lots of HUGE CLOSE UPS but don't have sex, because premarital sex will result in him killing her. (Yay!) Dear, god, it's awful. There are entire chapters where nothing whatsoever happens. I only kept reading because my book group insisted everyone read it and because I was determined that it would not defeat me. This is a parody, which is actually better than the original: http://shinga.livejournal.com/478415.html And this just made me laugh: Twilight: The Abridged Script | The Editing Room |

I'm sorry, Hafke, but your post was so boring that I could not read it all the way to its end. I hope that it got better by the time it was done. And maybe you need to take better control of that book club.

Re: What's the worst book you've ever finished?
"God Forbid, Religion and Sex in American Pullic Life" by Kathleen Sands. This was the most dry and boring book I have ever read. Had I not had to read it for a sociology class and had an exam on it, I wouldn't have made it through the first chapter. 250 pages of... "According to study XYZ conducted by Jane Doe... blah blah blah. Horrible... just horrible.

Re: What's the worst book you've ever finished?
That means that, by definition, when you finish the Bible, it will be the worst book that you have ever read. You should read one of those Dan Brown books on a plane so that you don't have to say that the Bible is the worst.

Get out of here. The Old Testament kicks ass. God is better than Bruce Willis in Die Hard.

God is a vengeful, smiting teenager in the OT. God is even better than Anakin, because God would have brought the whole temple down, not just the Padawan younglings.

Satanic Verses. I never knew yawn could actually be painful. And, it made such an impact on me (insert sarcasm here) I have no recollection of even the point of it.
