Re: What dont you like about Microsoft?

Exchange server...sorry.
For e-mail we have used Postfix for years...it is simple/secure and flat out just works.
For mass storage we use two Linux servers - why use anything else?

Both are of course free.

Jeesh I don't think the board allows a post long enough to go into this topic.

I have not found a way to tweek that yet, other than just turn it off altogether.

aye - Linux has done indexing for years, called updatedb it definitely speeds up finding files on your computer - however it takes the system to a crawl for several minutes when it runs. However since you have access to the system in Linux you can tell it exactly when to run with a simple entry. - surely there are settings with the indexing feature in Vista??...if not - man that is stupid.

Re: What dont you like about Microsoft?

Working as a webdesigner, I'd have to say all the hassle about them not wanting to cooperate with W3C standards (although they seem to be loosening up somewhat). Everyone, who know's (X)HTML and CSS knows how annoyed you can get, when you actually have to make two different stylesheets... one for Internet Explorer and one for all the rest, which complies with industry standards.

Re: What dont you like about Microsoft?

Ya, an old one...

IF MICROSOFT BUILT CARS.....

1. Every time they repainted the lines on the road you would have to buy a new car.

2. Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason, and you would just accept this, restart and drive on.

3. Occasionally, executing a maneuver would cause your car to stop and fail and you would have to re-install the engine. For some strange reason, you would accept this too.

4. You could only have one person in the car at a time, unless you bought "Car95" or "CarNT" Group Licence. But, then you would have to buy more seats..

5. Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was much more reliable, five times as fast, twice as easy to drive - but would only run on 10 percent of the roads.

6. The Macintosh car owners would get expensive Microsoft upgrades to their cars, which would make their cars run much slower.

7. The oil, gas and alternator warning lights would be replaced by a single "general car default" warning light.

8. New seats would force everyone to have the same size butt.

9. The airbag system would say "are you sure?" before going off.

10. If you were involved in a crash, you would have no idea what happened.

11. We'd all have to switch to Microsoft (tm) Gas
