BlackBerry Service Out Across North America

Quote:
AT&T Inc. says the disruption Monday is affecting all wireless carriers. AT&T first learned about the problem at about 3:30 p.m. EST.

There's no word on the cause or when the problem might be fixed.

BlackBerry maker Research in Motion did not immediately return a phone call.
This sounds pretty terrible. I have not heard any reason it happened yet, but I would hope an entire network would be more resilient to complete failure.

Hmm - you know I read somewhere this was likely to start happening...but I can't remember where - probably slashdot..

Re: BlackBerry Service Out Across North America

Hmm. Mine has been working fine this evening. However, I did notice that I tried to refresh my USPOL page around that time this afternoon and it briefly failed to do so IIRC. I simply wrote it off as a common lack of service message that happens depending on where one is and other common reasons for failing to connect.

Yeah, it looks like Marc has to fix even more glitches in the forum warning system.

Did anyone else find that hilarious?

It's a great line.

Reminds me of the trouble-shooting instructions of a modem I bought a couple of years ago. It was something like "If you can't build up an Internet connection, look at the FAQ section on our website or send an E-Mail to our Service-Team".
