I didn't really care who won, I'm just glad that one of the teams won at home. It always seems a bit anticlimactic when a team wins in another teams' stadium...

We needed it big time, though. Whew. It's been 25 years since the last time any major sports team in Philly won a championship (Sixers in 83), the first for the Phillies since 1980 and only their second WS win since the club started in the 1800s. The Eagles have never even won a Super Bowl and only been there twice. Being in Philly is like being a Jets/Mets fan in NY and listening to Giants/Yankees fans all around you 24/7 except you don't get a choice who to support. That's why the love of beer and boos are the long time staples of being a Philly sports fan and make it fun because it's ingrained local ritual to feel entitled to get piss drunk and dream how the team will be in the future whilst booing the shit out of anything and everything observed.

Oh c'mon. The Bears have won Super Bowls. The Bulls were a superpower. Chicago baseball teams have won more World Series, even though mostly back in deguerrotype times , and the Phillies just caught up to the Cubs in that regard (just 2). And the Sox did win in 2005 and they have 3 World Series wins.
