I live in Slidell and half of our city was covered in the waters of Lake Pontchartrain after Katrina. In several areas, the homes were completely washed into the lake and yet, we've managed to rebuild our city and the people have rebuilt or are in the process of rebuilding their homes, all without the whining and crying that the government hasn't rescued them.
Now, if you'll also look at the map, you'll find that New Orleans is a minute portion of Louisiana. A governor is elected for the good of the entire state, not just one city. If the idiots in New Orleans want to continue on the same route they've been on for the past two years, nobody, not even Jindal will be able to change that.
Great, you admit Jindal isn't up to the job. Exactly what I said. Congrats.

(BTW, Mary's brother, Mitch, was re-elected Lieutenant Governor.)
Well done on electing Jindal firstly, let's hope this one doesn't get screwed up.

I think Landrieu is all but finished, i think she won't even bother to run for re-election in the end next year she's doing so badly, Mitch got re-elected (having lost to Nagin for mayor) but i think the Landrieu family's long running influence in LA politics is slowly winding to an end.

No, cupcake, that's not what I said. But that's okay, I really don't expect someone that lacks basic knowledge of what a governor does to understand.

I disagree. I look for Mitch to run for governor after Jindal serves two terms and the people of New Orleans still love Mary. Even though they're both Democrats, I think they've served Louisiana well and I actually voted for Mitch Saturday.

Re: Bobby Jindal Elected Louisiana Governor

I don't mind Mitch too much (not a fan of Mary though) but i think its not so much a case of politics or ideology or whatever; i think basically the sort of thing that opitimises so many people's view of corruption and slease around the country (i.e. the Clintons and Bush families) is having political families and dynasties that end up falling to pieces due to unethical behavior. Just look at the Ford family in TN for example. Now usually i would say that this would be a way to sort out corruption and clean the place up, but maybe with LA its the other way round? Maybe you guys need more "families" in office together to feel more about the crookedness? Or maybe this win for Jindal shows some hope for the voters down there and they will cleean house? As for Mary, however much she may be loved in NO she's so far behind in current polling (some as much as 19 points to an unnamed Republican) i don't know whether she'll even run again. I see Vitter going too, possibly within a GOP primary?
