My state, Wisconsin, is still without a budget.

Wow! State workers are furloughed? Sevices cut back? That's the usual drill.

Last I knew, Illinois was in the same boat. Of course the Governor is threatening to lay off the State Police rather than touch an ounce of Pork.

See this is another horrible example of partisan politics. How ignorant is it that to the citzens of whatever state it may be. Partisan politics once again trumps the good of its constituents.

I expect I'm either preaching to the choir or to deaf ears, depending on who's reading, but I try to encourage everyone to register to vote, then to actually vote and vote third party. I recommend the Libertarians, but even a vote for a Green / Constitutionalist / Commie / Nazi sends the message that there are other viewpoints that should be given appropriate consideration.

I have long been an advocate for having third parties more involved and electable. One problem is that the one thing our two big parties can agree on is to squashing any up and comer.

I am begining to think though in situations like this, a third party with say 20% of the seats could potentially compoud these situations.

Stepping away from all political parties and electing someone on thier individual merits really would be the most wise.
For all elected officials thier priorities should be the entire government they are apart of, then thier constituents and then thier own special interests.

Instead right now, it often works out as the party, campaign donors, then my constituents and then the government.

Re: Wisconsin Without a Budget

Hello..I'm new here and enjoying the conversation. I regularly vote for 3rd party candidates and they are regularly defeated..

I belong to the Constitution party but it's going to be a long time before we get any real traction!

Fair enough, and I dont agree with his politics to speak of. I have heard he apparently did a good job with health care in Wisconsin when he was gov.

I had the chance to meet with him actually. He was touring rural Alaska during his time as HHS. I managed our local youth center at the time. He was supposed to only stay about 20minutes. But got to visiting with everyone and got into several pool games with community youth ans stuck around about an hour. A very nice man in my opinion.

Re: Wisconsin Without a Budget

I've meet with him last year when he was campaigning for a Wisconsin State Senator (Joe Leibham). I got to take a photo with him.
