Electronic voting machines not secure

Will they ever get it right?

States question electronic vote machines - Yahoo! News

With the presidential race in full swing, Colorado and other states have found critical flaws in the accuracy and security of their electronic voting machines, forcing officials to scramble to return to the paper ballots they abandoned after the Florida debacle of 2000

But in tests, researchers in Ohio and Colorado found that electronic voting systems could be corrupted with magnets or with Treos and other similar handheld devices.

Back to square one again.

Re: Electronic voting machines not secure

This is why I've done mail-in for the last few elections.

Of course, given where I live, it's not like my vote counts for anything anyway.

Colorado is not a dead lock for either party.

Perhaps, but my county and district sure as shit are.

Of course, I can't remember the last time our Electoral votes went to the Democratic candidate.

I'm sure 'they' have already got it right. I wonder whose brother-in-law made a fortune with the contract for this shabby lot ?

Diebold vigorously defends that government supported monopoly in spite of a proven lack of security allowing votes and tallies to be altered almost at will.

Yes, the rotten structure will eventually topple though. David Chaum, as I recall, developed a foolproof system with a paper-trail backup some years ago.

Re: Electronic voting machines not secure

The Secretary of State just did away with electronic machines in one of the counties here. They are being switched to the system that we use, which seems to be by far the most logical.

I am sure that if a democrat wins the presidency we will not hear a peep about voter fraud but if a republican we will hear all kinds of accusations of voter fraud.Personally I think paper ballots and requiring ID are one of the ways to crack down on fraud.

Of course. After the past eight years of bloody incompetence there is no other route by which the Republicans could win.

Yes, a paper-trail is going to be essential for the foreseeable future. Good designers have recognised that and it's built-in. If they have been ignored then it's likely because the 'representatives' are running scared. They have a thing they call 'the tyranny of the majority'. That means the displacement of the tyrannical minority. Lol.

I think there are a sufficient number of skeptics out there who will suspect fraud no matter WHO wins. And they might well be right.

It's not a partisan issue.
