You really don't seem to understand that she took an unnecessary risk by flying home instead of having her child at the local hospital. Her water had broke and she went into labor a month early, she knew that the baby has Down's Syndrome and yet she chose to risk his life and hers. I'm glad everything turned out okay but I still think she's a very stupid woman for taking such a risk. Doctors generally tell pregnant women not to fly past their 36th week and I seriously doubt that her doctor approved of her actions, though he may not have come right out and said so due to her "station in life".
She took the risk and was successful. Any criticism directed at her
decision after the fact is sour grapes, jealousy by those adverse to risk and subconsciously wishing she had failed in order to validate their opinions. Not much different than person A being disappointed when person B wins at gambling because person A is against gambling.

Ridiculous even by your standards. You say Mrs M is jealous but i think you're jealous. You wish you weren't born in Texas don't you? The same way this kid was bon elsewhere...stop taking out your personal grievances by laying it on others.

Wow everyone needs to take a step back and deep breath. She was in consultation with her doctor. Her water broke, that is it, she wasnt having contractions. If she thought for one second that this would jeopordize the safety of her child or herself she wouldnt have done it. And guess what, the baby was born just fine! Born a full 8 hours after she arrived in Alaska. I admire her for her determination. A calculated risk that worked beautifully.

What does where I was born have to do with a woman's decision? It sounds like you'd prefer women have no decision making ability in this and all matters, back to your 19th century standards of womens rights.

Who knows? It did turn out well. She would have been chastised for sure. No doubt. But funny thing is, her birth was fine.

What would have happened if Cheney and Bush went to Vietnam?
We'll never know.

That's great as she is apparently a practical joker...(or so you say).

She is very down to Earth. Capable of making jokes and is casual in her demeanor. Especially with her interactions with citizens. There might be a few State Legislators that would disagree.

Why? We're not the ones in labor....

Maybe that's the best natal advice she'd ever be given, you should try become her personal advisor, she might realise its smarter to try give birth than go back to her home state when her water breaks....

As for being her personal advisor, no thanks. But you would be surprised the personal ties I have to her. But again Traveler, you just prove my theory that she did the right thing. Do you wear a cowboy hat?

Re: Coolest Governor Ever!

Sometimes...its ironic with me being a Native Indian.

And no she didn't do the right thing, she shouldn't have gone back to her home state.

Seriously, if it was your wife, would you let her behave like such a trollop like your friend the Governor did or tell her to get her head straight and forget about getting home?

What sort of Indian?
Why shouldnt she have come back to Alaska. What went wrong to make you suggest that?

If it was my wives 5th pregnancy and she had been through it before, I would much rather have her comfortable in her surroundings with her own doctor, around her family, in a state of the art facility. Rather than take my chances with the unknown.
But then again, if it was me and my wife, we already avoid Texas.

Why would I be jealous of someone that is stupid enough to risk the life of her baby in such a manner? I'm happy things turned out okay but IMO, it was an unnecessary risk and one most women wouldn't chance, especially when knowingly giving birth to a child such as hers. Your defense of her is childish..."But mom, I was only seeing how close the car would get to me! I jumped out of the way with a second to spare!!"

Coolest Governor Ever! : I'll go with a first place tie between Ah-nold and Palin. [edit] Too bad Jesse is a past governor, then it would be a three-way tie. [/edit]
